Extraction of Interface Stiffness in Superlattices: Proposal of the Interface Elasticity Parameter [PDF]
We develop a methodology to extract the interface stiffness in superlattices using picosecond ultrasound spectroscopy. Ultrafast light pulses excite and detect thickness phonon modes in a five-layered superlattice thin film, consisting of three matrix layers and two ultrathin interlayers. The thickness of interlayer is varied between 2 and 10 A.

Response of Corrugated Interface on Incident qSV-Wave in Monoclinic Elastic Half-Spaces
This paper is concerned with the problem of reflection and transmission of elastic waves due to an incident plane qSV-wave at a corrugated interface between two dissimilar monoclinic elastic half-spaces.

Diffuse interface modelling of soluble surfactants in two-pahse flow [PDF]
Phase field models for two-phase flow with a surfactant soluble in possibly both fluids are derived from balance equations and an energy inequality so that thermodynamic consistency is guaranteed.

A multi-level interface model for damaged masonry [PDF]
The aim of the present work is to propose a new micro-mechanical model in the context of the deductive approach used to derive interface models. This model, based on a previous study introduced previously by A. Rekik and F.

Process-Parameter-Interface Model for Design Management [PDF]
This paper presents a framework for managing the architecture/engineering/construction design process. The framework, called the process-parameter-interface (PPI) model, tries to address the design management issues of improved design process scheduling and efficient collaboration. The model comprises three main components—a design parameter vocabulary,

UTB SOI SRAM cell stability under the influence of intrinsic parameter fluctuation [PDF]
Intrinsic parameter fluctuations steadily increases with CMOS technology scaling. Around the 90nm technology node, such fluctuations will eliminate much of the available noise margin in SRAM based on conventional MOSFETs.

Three-dimensional consolidation theory of vertical drain based on continuous drainage boundary
To remedy the limitation that the conventional drainage boundary only considers two extreme cases of pervious and impervious boundaries, the consolidation theory of vertical drain is derived by applying the continuous drainage boundary, and its validity ...

New diffusive interface model for pitting corrosion
In this paper, a diffusive interface model for pitting corrosion is proposed, which can be used to simulate diffusion- and activation-controlled pitting corrosion with the pit morphologies and the distribution of metal cation concentration. The diffusive

Second order phase field asymptotics for multi-component systems [PDF]
An asymptotic analysis of a phase field model for solidification in multicomponent alloy systems is presented. In the limit of vanishing interface thickness the related sharp interface model is approximated to second order by taking a non-constant ...
