Adsorption model and phase transitions of diblock perfluoroalkylated surfactants at the water—alkane interface [PDF]
We present a theory of the adsorption behaviour and phase transitions in monolayers of perfluoroalkylated alcohols, , at the water∣oil interface, and validate it for a range of temperatures and surfactant structures.

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Interface excitation parameter from dielectric response theory
We define the interface excitation parameter (IEP) as the change in excitation probability, caused by the presence of a medium-medium interface crossed by an electron, in comparison with an electron for which only bulk excitations are considered.

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

The bottleneck/cork interface: a key parameter in bottle-aging of wine
A study of changes in oxygen transfer through micro-agglomerated corks was carried out over 24 months under controlled storage conditions (Chanut et al., 2023a).

Determining the interfaces parameters for geotechnical modelling [PDF]
The article discusses the interaction of concrete structures with the soil, made on the basis of laboratory tests and numerical simulation. The objectives of the study were to obtain the strength characteristics at the contact of two different materials, to compare the obtained value of the strength reduction factor with the standard values, and also ...

We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Analytical Solution of Sand-drained Ground Consolidation Based on Continuous Drainage Boundary
For the limitations of the boundary condition under instantaneous constant load in traditional sand-drained consolidation theory, the three-dimensional consolidation equation of sand-drained ground was solved based on the continuous drainage boundary ...
