On the Vanishing of the Interfacial Ekman-Layer

open access: yesJournal of Physical Oceanography, 2011
Abstract It is shown that an interfacial Ekman layer between two water masses of different density vanishes in time for all Prandtl number 0 < Pr < ∞, demonstrating that an interfacial Ekman layer is a transient phenomena and the interface broadens in a way approaching geostrophy.

GeSe photovoltaics: doping, interfacial layer and devices

open access: yesFaraday Discussions, 2022
Ag-doped GeSe has been successfully grown and compared to undoped GeSe with XRD, photoemissions, ICP-OES and CV. The undoped and Ag-doped GeSe were included in PV devices with the champion device structure and J–V curve shown.

Nb Phase Position Marking for Clarifying the Formation Process of Cu-Al Composite Interfacial Phases in Continuous Composite Casting

open access: yesMetals, 2023
Cu-Al composites are widely applied materials exhibiting advanced properties of both matrix metals. Controlling the brittle interfacial phases is a key factor in improving the interfacial strength of Cu-Al composites.

Additive manufacturing-based combinatorial approach to improve bonding strength and heat transfer performance in wrought-cast Al compound casting

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2023
We improved the interfacial bonding strength and heat transfer performance between wrought and cast Al alloy parts by implementing an interfacial Al-Si-Zn-based alloy coating layer.

On the patterns of interaction between shear and interfacial modes in plane air–water Poiseuille flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The current work deals with the numerical analysis of linear stability problems in a stratified plain Poiseuille flow of air over water with equal layer heights.

Infrared Spectroscopy of Bilberry Extract Water-in-Oil Emulsions: Sensing the Water-Oil Interface

open access: yesBiosensors, 2016
Water-in-oil (w/o) emulsions are of great interest in many areas of the life sciences, including food technology, bioprocess engineering, and pharmaceuticals. Such emulsions are complex multi-component systems and the molecular mechanisms which lead to a

Bond Layer Properties and Geometry Effect on Interfacial Thermo-mechanical Stresses in Bi-material Electronic Packaging Assembly

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Thermo-mechanical mismatch stress is one of the reasons for mechanical as well as functional failure between two or more connected devices. In electronic packaging, two or more plates or layers are bonded together by an extremely thin layer.

Interfacial temperature discontinuities in a thin liquid layer during evaporation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Recent measurements of the temperature profiles across the liquid-vapor interface of a steady evaporating liquid were performed in a thin planar liquid layer subjected to externally imposed horizontal temperature differences when the interface was open ...

Significant Interfacial Dielectric Relaxation of Covalently Bonded Ice-Hydrogels

open access: yesGels, 2022
Hydrogels are composed of a three-dimensional network of cross-linked hydrophilic polymer chains and large amounts of water. The physicochemical properties of the polymer-water interface in hydrogels draw our attention.

The Analysis of The Researches on Metal-Semiconductor Structures with and without Interfacial Layer in Turkey

open access: yesHittite Journal of Science and Engineering, 2019
Today, there are fairly large number of theoretical and experimental studies on metalsemiconductor structures or Schottky structures which formed by a tight contact of the metal and semiconductor.
