Interfacial modification on polyhydroxyalkanoates/starch blend by grafting in-situ

Carbohydrate Polymers, 2017
The interfacial adhesion between polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) and native starch is poor. To improve the interfacial adhesion, PHAs were in-situ grafted onto starch using dicumyl peroxide (DCP) as a free radical initiator. The grafting reaction was carefully characterized and confirmed by gel analysis and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR).

Interfacial modification in organic solar cells

Chemical Communications
This review summarizes the mechanism of dipole moments to promote interfacial energy level alignment. Typical organic interlayer materials are compared to conclude the structure–property relationship on directing molecular design.

Interfacial charge modification between SiO2 and silicon

Applied Physics Letters, 1989
A positive flatband voltage shift, ΔVfb ≂+0.4 V, with respect to unimplanted portions of the same wafer, was obtained when calcium (1×1013 cm−2) was implanted into 87 nm of thermally grown oxide on an n-type 〈100〉 substrate and annealed. Calcium acts as a low-efficiency n-type dopant in silicon (<0.1% activated) which eliminates the possibility ...

Modification of interfacial charge between SiO2 and silicon

Applied Physics Letters, 1988
Reduction of the net positive charge at the interface between SiO2 and silicon has been achieved by implanting calcium in the SiO2 near the interface and annealing. Comparison between initial calcium implant profiles and calcium profiles obtained after a high-temperature (950 °C) anneal showed that the calcium was basically immobile.

Heterogeneous Nucleation and Interfacial Modification of Electrodeposited Lithium

ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2019
There has been a recent resurgence in research on high energy density lithium metal batteries (LMBs). The successful commercialization of rechargeable LMBs requires an improved understanding of the fundamental nucleation and growth processes for electrodeposited lithium metal.

Effects of interfacial modifications on diamond film adhesion

SPIE Proceedings, 1991
Microlithographic surface patterning has been investigated as a means of improving diamond film adhesion on noncompatible substrates. This technique produces significant improvements in film adhesion beyond identical unpatterned substrates, although sufficient film stresses can develop to induce subsurface substrate fracture.

Superhydrophobic Diffusion Barriers for Hydrogels via Confined Interfacial Modification

Advanced Materials, 2016
A ubiquitous strategy to superhydrophobize the surfaces of synthetic hydrogels is reported, creating heterogeneous wettability across the surface and the inner network. Such wetting disparity shows significant influence on preventing immediate diffusion of substances between the hydrogel and the aqueous environment on different scales.

Interfacial Modification of Clay Nanotubes for the Sustained Release of Corrosion Inhibitors

Langmuir, 2012
Long-lasting anticorrosive coatings for steel have been developed on the basis of halloysite nanotubes loaded with three corrosion inhibitors: benzotriazole, mercaptobenzothiazole, and mercaptobenzimidazole. The inhibitors' loaded tubes were admixed at 5-10 wt % to oil-based alkyd paint providing sustained agent release and corrosion healing in the ...

Effects of Interfacial Modifications on Electrical Properties of Laminar Composite Dielectrics

Langmuir, 2010
The reported work highlights that both polarizibility and quasi-DC conductivity, the two most important parameters for high energy density materials, can be influenced by the surface polarity of an oxide and interfacial surface tension between the oxide and polymer in a laminar composite.

Direct Interfacial Modification of Nanocellulose Films for Thermoresponsive Membrane Templates

ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2016
This letter proposes a strategy to construct tunable films combining the physical characteristics of cellulose nanofibrils and smart polymers for membrane applications. A functional membrane template was obtained by first fabricating a water stable film from cellulose nanofibrils and subsequently surface grafting it with a thermoresponsive polymer ...
