Regulation of hematopoietic stem cell activity by inflammation
Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are quiescent cells with self-renewal capacity and the ability to generate all mature blood cells. HSCs normally reside in specialized niches in the bone marrow that help maintain their quiescence and long-term ...

Signal propagation in sensing and reciprocating cellular systems with spatial and structural heterogeneity [PDF]
Sensing and reciprocating cellular systems (SARs) are important for the operation of many biological systems. Production in interferon (IFN) SARs is achieved through activation of the Jak-Stat pathway, and downstream upregulation of IFN regulatory factor (IRF)-3 and IFN transcription, but the role that high and low affinity IFNs play in this process ...

ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Ofatumumab, a fully human anti‐CD20 monoclonal antibody, is effective in reducing relapses and disability progression in patients with multiple sclerosis. This study aimed to examine immune profile changes associated with ofatumumab in a prospective cohort of Chinese patients with relapsing–remitting multiple ...

Elevated Levels of Proinflammatory Cytokines in Cerebrospinal Fluid of Multiple Sclerosis Patients
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune neurodegenerative disease characterized by chronic brain inflammation. Leukocyte infiltration of brain tissue causes inflammation, demyelination, and the subsequent formation of sclerotic plaques, which are a ...

REP: Predicting the Time-Course of Drug Sensitivity [PDF]
The biological processes involved in a drug's mechanisms of action are oftentimes dynamic, complex and difficult to discern. Time-course gene expression data is a rich source of information that can be used to unravel these complex processes, identify biomarkers of drug sensitivity and predict the response to a drug.

Interferon and Interferon Inducers in Protozoal Infections [PDF]
Several interferon inducers (Newcastle disease virus, statolon, and poly rI:poly rC) as well as exogenous mouse interferon protect mice from sporozoite-induced Plasmodium berghei malaria, as long as they are administered before the end of the preerythrocytic phase of development of the parasite.

The Regulation of Trace Metal Elements in Cancer Ferroptosis
The induction of ferroptosis inhibits tumor growth, enhances anticancer efficacy, and overcomes drug resistance. Recent evidence shows nonferrous metal elements play a role in ferroptosis. This review focuses on how trace metals regulate ferroptosis processes like iron accumulation, lipid peroxidation, and antioxidant defense.
