Interleukin-1β Inhibits Glutamate Release in Hippocampus of Young, But Not Aged, Rats

Neurobiology of Aging, 1997
The proinflammatory cytokine, interleukin-1, is synthesized in neuronal and glial cells and is released in response to stress/injury. IL-1 exerts profound effects on the central nervous system, which include an inhibitory effect on synaptic activity in hippocampus, a brain area expressing a high density of IL-1 receptors.

Neuronal DNA damage correlates with overexpression of interleukin-1β converting enzyme in APPV717F mice

Neurobiology of Aging, 2001
Transgenic APPV717F mice, homozygous for a human minigene encoding the V717F familial Alzheimer's disease mutation, develop Abeta plaques similar to those seen in Alzheimer patients and show evidence of neuronal cell drop out in CA2-3 regions of the hippocampus at 8 months of age and older. Interleukin-1 (IL-1)beta (IL-1beta) converting enzyme (ICE) is

Exposure to alcohol in utero blunts splenic sympathetic neural response to endotoxin and interleukin-1β in the rat

Journal of Neuroimmunology, 1997
Systemic administration of endotoxin (LPS) or interleukin-1beta (IL-1) to prepubertal rats induced a marked increase in splenic but not cardiac norepinephrine (NE) turnover, an index of sympathetic neural activity. In contrast, the splenic neural response was blunted in their fetal alcohol-exposed (FAE) cohorts.

Age-related impairment in long-term potentiation in hippocampus: a role for the cytokine, interleukin-1β?

Progress in Neurobiology, 1998
Ageing is associated with impairments in a variety of biological functions, one of the most striking might be considered to be the impairment in cognitive function. This impairment probably relates to the vulnerability of the hippocampus to the ageing process, since several cognitive functions rely on the integrity of this brain area.

PERBEDAAN KADAR INTERLEUKIN 1β ANTARA PERSALINAN PRETERM DAN KEHAMILAN NORMAL

Jurnal Doppler, 2019
