The Effect of Interleukin 38 on Inflammation-induced Corneal Neovascularization
Current Molecular Medicine, 2019Background: Angiogenesis is tightly linked to inflammation. Cytokines of interleukin 1 (IL-1) family are key mediators in modulating inflammatory responses. Methods: In this study, we examined the role of IL-38, a member of the IL-1 family, in mediating inflammation-induced angiogenesis.

Interleukin-38 and Insulin Resistance
Endocrine, Metabolic & Immune Disorders - Drug TargetsAbstract: Insulin resistance, i.e., decreased biological response to insulin, is a risk factor for many diseases, such as obesity, type 2 diabetes (T2DM), cardiovascular disease, polycystic ovary syndrome, some forms of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.

Correlation of Rheumatoid Arthritis with Interleukin-38 and its Polymorphism (rs6743376)
Scandic Journal Of Advanced Research And Reviews, 2023Among autoimmune disorders, rheumatoid arthritis is one of the most prevalent. The IL-1 family and the IL36 subfamily both include interleukin-38. IL-38 is anti-inflammatory cytokine. IL-38 is essential for inflammation control and host defense. In the Pakistani population, this research intends to evaluate the relationship flanked by IL-38 levels and ...

Interleukin-38 is elevated in inflammatory bowel diseases and suppresses intestinal inflammation
Cytokine, 2020There has been no report investigating the role of IL-38 in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Therefore, we investigated the expression of IL-38 in IBD patients and its role in regulating intestinal inflammation. The levels of IL-38 were significantly elevated in the intestine of IBD patients and DSS-induced colitis mice.

Interleukin-38 Level and Polymorphism (Rs 6743376) Associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis
Scandic Journal Of Advanced Research And Reviews, 2023Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a multifaceted autoimmune disorder defined by persistent inflammation and joint damage. This study explores the intricate relationship between RA severity and interleukin-38 (IL-38), a cytokine having anti-inflammatory properties. Our research reveals a strong connection between elevated plasma IL-38 levels and the severity

Interleukin‐38 inhibits adipogenesis and inflammatory cytokine production in 3T3‐L1 preadipocytes
Cell Biology International, 2020AbstractInterleukin‐38 (IL‐38) is a novel member of the IL‐1 cytokine family with anti‐inflammatory activity. However, its effect on adipogenesis and inflammatory cytokines secretion of adipocytes in vitro has not been reported. To address whether IL‐38 inhibits adipogenesis and inflammation in vitro, adipose precursor 3T3‐L1 cells were cultured with ...

Plasma levels of interleukin-38 in healthy aging and in type 2 diabetes
Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice, 2021Plasma levels of interleukin (IL)-38 were evaluated in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and healthy controls. Plasma IL-38 was higher in T2DM patients and positively related to waist/hip ratio, HbA1c, uric acid, liver function tests, triglycerides and total proteins. Patients suffering from diabetic nephropathy had the highest IL-38 levels.

The aim of this study was to assess interleukin-1β (IL-1β), IL-1Ra, IL-36, and IL-38 levels together with hs-CRP levels in patients with different radiographic grades of knee osteoarthritis (OA) in comparison to healthy individuals. Consecutive patients aged over 50 years who were admitted to our Orthopaedics and Traumatology department between ...

Interleukin-38 as a potential diagnostic biomarker for heart failure
Biomarkers in MedicineInterleukin-38 (IL-38) attenuates inflammation, myocardial injury, and ventricular remodeling after myocardial infarction, which potentially reduces the incidence of heart failure (HF). This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic value of IL-38 for HF.IL-38 was detected via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in the serum samples of 238 hF patients and ...

Serum levels of interleukin-38 in sufferers with atopic eczema
Egyptian Journal of Dermatology and Venerology, 2019Background The relation between interleukin-38 (IL-38) and atopy is not precisely regarded yet. The current study has a look at set to assess the serum level of IL-38 in atopy patients and controls in order to illustrate the disease association and correlation with severity.
