The independent synthesis of intermediate density lipoproteins in type III hyperlipoproteinemia
Metabolism, 1982The kinetics of VLDL (Sf 60-400) and IDL (Sf 12-60) B apoprotein were examined in five type III hyperlipoproteinemic subjects. The production rates for B apoprotein were significantly greater in the IDL fraction than in VLDL. Precursor-product relationships between VLDL and IDL B apoprotein illustrated that a significant proportion of IDL B apoprotein ...

Cellular metabolism of human plasma intermediate-density lipoprotein (IDL)
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Lipids and Lipid Metabolism, 1990The cellular metabolism of human plasma intermediate-density lipoprotein (IDL) was investigated in cultured human skin fibroblasts and hepG-2 cell in the absence and presence of exogenous recombinant or plasmatic apo E-3. IDL (d 1.006-1.019 g/ml) and LDL (d 1.019-1.063 g/ml) were prepared by centrifugation from the plasma of apo E-3/3 or 4/3 ...

Both hypercholesterolemia and hypertension are risk factors for atherosclerotic vascular disease, and elevated cholesterol levels occur more frequently than expected in patients with hypertension. Elevated levels of intermediate-density lipoproteins (IDL) and low-density lipoproteins (LDL) were shown to be atherogenic, and LDL, comprising the major ...

Accumulation of intermediate density lipoprotein in the plasma of cholesterol-fed hypothyroid rats
Metabolism, 1983Abstract The present study aimed to characterize the high cholesterol diet-induced hyperlipoproteinemia developed in thyroidectomized hypothyroid rats, in such animals the activities of hepatic triglyceride lipase having been shown to be decreased.

Analysis of the binding and association of human intermediate density lipoproteins to HepG2 cells
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Lipids and Lipid Metabolism, 1992The binding of human intermediate density lipoproteins (IDL) to HepG2 cells was studied. We found that human 125I-IDL interact with a binding site of high-affinity (Kd 0.74 micrograms/ml, Bmax 0.049 micrograms/mg cell protein) and a binding site of lower affinity (Kd 86.8 micrograms/ml; Bmax 0.53 micrograms/mg cell protein).

Lipoprotein mass concentrations were measured by analytical ultracentrifugation in a subset of 57 hypercholesterolaemic male participants in the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute Type II Coronary Intervention Study. 2-year changes in levels of intermediate-density lipoproteins (IDL) of flotation rate 12-20 were strongly predictive of ...

Increased transport of intermediate density lipoprotein (IDL) with cholesterol loading
Metabolism, 1983Although cholesterol loading in man generally leads to an increase in plasma cholesterol and low density lipoprotein cholesterol in particular, the mechanism for this is unknown. Because IDL formation rises in cholesterol-fed rats we have measured the transport of IDL apoprotein B in 8 men during two dietary periods containing either 200 mg or 1700 mg ...
