Proprotein convertase subtilisin-kexin type 9 (PCSK9) is a key regulator of low density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor processing, but the PCSK9 pathway may also be implicated in the metabolism of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins. Here we determined the relationship of plasma PCSK9 with very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) and LDL subfractions. The ...

The aim of this work was to compare the disappearance rate of human and rat intermediate density lipoproteins (IDL) using the rat liver perfusion system. Human and rat IDL were produced in vitro by incubating human or rat very low density lipoproteins (VLDL) with either rat post-heparin plasma (method I) or a resolubilized isopropanol precipitate of ...

Analysis of the binding and association of human intermediate density lipoproteins to HepG2 cells
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Lipids and Lipid Metabolism, 1992The binding of human intermediate density lipoproteins (IDL) to HepG2 cells was studied. We found that human 125I-IDL interact with a binding site of high-affinity (Kd 0.74 micrograms/ml, Bmax 0.049 micrograms/mg cell protein) and a binding site of lower affinity (Kd 86.8 micrograms/ml; Bmax 0.53 micrograms/mg cell protein).

Remnant lipoprotein can be measured by immunoseparation assay and polyacrylamide gel disc electrophoresis; however, these methods have some problems, such as a lack of specificity and being technically complicated. Recently, a new method, the remnant lipoprotein cholesterol homogeneous assay(RemL-C), has been established.

The effect of bezafibrate, at doses of 200 mg three times weekly throughout a period of 10 weeks, on lipoprotein (a) and triglyceride-rich lipoproteins including intermediate-density lipoproteins (IDL) has been studied in 12 patients with chronic renal failure receiving haemodialysis.

Cardiovascular motality is high in patients with chronic renal failure treated with dialysis, and secondary hyperparathyroidism may promote atherosclerogenesis. Recent studies have revealed advanced atherosclerosis in hemodialysis patients by using high-resolution B-mode ultrasonography. Multiple regression analyses indicated that hyperphosphatemia and

Although cholesterol loading in man generally leads to an increase in plasma cholesterol and low density lipoprotein cholesterol in particular, the mechanism for this is unknown. Because IDL formation rises in cholesterol-fed rats we have measured the transport of IDL apoprotein B in 8 men during two dietary periods containing either 200 mg or 1700 mg ...
