Intermolecular Interaction Between Cry2Aa and Cyt1Aa and Its Effect on Larvicidal Activity Against Culex quinquefasciatus

open access: yes, 2013
The Cyt1Aa protein of Bacillus thuringiensis susbp. israelensis elaborates demonstrable toxicity to mosquito larvae, but more importantly, it enhances the larvicidal activity of this species Cry proteins (Cry11Aa, Cry4Aa, and Cry4Ba) and delays the ...

Mono‐Material Polydisulfides for Pressure Sensitive Adhesive Tapes With Closed‐Loop Recyclability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐performance pressure‐sensitive adhesive (PSA) tape is developed where both the adhesive layer and plastic backing layer can be recycled back to monomer in a closed‐loop cycle. Both layers of the tape are composed of analogous polydisulfide copolymers using only two unique monomers, thus giving it a mono‐material design and enabling recycling of ...

Two-dimensional asynchronous spectrum with auxiliary cross peaks in probing intermolecular interactions

open access: yes, 2015
A new approach called "asynchronous spectrum with auxiliary peaks (ASAP)" is proposed for generating a 2D asynchronous spectrum to investigate the intermolecular interaction between two solutes (P and Q) dissolved in the same solution.

Balancing Hydrophobicity and Hydrophilicity: Dual Filler‐Engineered Proton Exchange Membranes for Durable, High‐Power Fuel Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polarity‐matched Zr–MOFs program Nafion's nanoscale morphology during solution casting. Hydrophilic UiO‐66 preserves hydrated pathways, while hydrophobic UiO‐67 increases the proton hopping sites by densifying ionic clusters. Combining both fillers yields a membrane that delivers 176 mS cm−1 conductivity, reaches 1.46 W cm−2 under 200 kPa, and triples ...

Confinement‐Engineered Thermally Programmed Ion‐Gating Separator for Decoupling Thermal–Electrochemical Feedback in High‐Energy Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A new phase‐change material encapsulated membrane offers more thermal resilience stability and safety than the conventional separators for batteries. ABSTRACT Thermal runaway in lithium‐ion batteries arises from the intrinsic coupling between heat generation and ion transport, yet conventional shutdown separators primarily rely on passive pore collapse

Rare gas-naphthalene interaction: Intermolecular potentials and clusters’ structures

open access: yes, 2021
The noncovalent intermolecular interaction of Helium, Neon and Argon with naphthalene is investigated for selected dimer configurations by means of electronic structure calculations at the MP2C level of theory and exploiting complete basis set ...

Functional Differentiation of Type II and Type I Collagen Articular Models in Synovial Fluid Film Formation and Recombinant Equine Lubricin Retention

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Collagen II coatings support the formation of synovial fluid nanofilms, while collagen I coatings do not. Both bind recombinant equine lubricin similarly. These findings may help explain articular cartilage surface joint dysfunction, inform biomaterial design for synovial joint repair, and expand on lubricin‐based osteoarthritis therapies.
