YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Fluid Biomarkers of Disease Burden and Cognitive Dysfunction in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Identifying objective biomarkers for progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) is crucial to improving diagnosis and establishing clinical trial and treatment endpoints. This study evaluated fluid biomarkers in PSP versus controls and their associations with regional 18F‐PI‐2620 tau‐PET, clinical, and cognitive outcomes.

Bond strength and confinement in reinforced concrete

open access: yes, 2022
The strength assessment of existing reinforced concrete structures is challenging when deterioration and detailing deficiencies are present. The anchorage of the internal steel reinforcement can be critical under particular confinement conditions of ...

Machine learning prediction of interfacial bond strength of FRP bars with different surface characteristics to concrete

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
Fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) bars have been implemented in civil infrastructures as internal reinforcement. The bond strength of FRP bars to concrete depends on the surface characteristics considerably.

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe

Evaluation of Bond Strength and Internal Adaptation Between the Dental Cavity and Adhesives Applied in One and Two Layers [PDF]

open access: yesOperative Dentistry, 2010
SUMMARY This research evaluated the influence of the number of adhesive layers of three adhesive systems on microtensile bond strength (μTBS) to dentin and the internal adaptation between the dental structure and the resin composite restoration. Two cavities (C-factor=3) were made on the buccal surfaces of 30 bovine incisors.

Peripheral Neutrophil Activation and Extracellular Trap Formation in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Markers of neutrophil activation are increased in plasma during ALS, and markers of NET formation associate with ALS survival. ABSTRACT Objectives Peripheral neutrophil levels in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) inversely correlate with survival, suggesting a role for neutrophils in disease progression.

Evaluation of the Bond-to-Concrete Properties of GFRP Rebars in Marine Environments

open access: yesInfrastructures, 2018
Increased traffic in combination with growing environmental impacts have led to the accelerated degradation of built infrastructure. In reinforced concrete structures, the corrosion of steel reinforcement is the predominant cause of deterioration.
