Customized Metal 3D Printed Total Wrist Prosthesis in the Treatment of Severely Destroyed Wrist: Design Rationale and Clinical Applications

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 17, Issue 5, Page 1536-1546, May 2025.
Four patients with severe wrist destruction from various causes were treated with customized 3D‐printed prostheses. In addition to the specific articular surface matching their original radiocarpal joint, two innovative proximal component designs were created to address different bone defects.

Fatigue behavior of Ilizarov frame versus tibial interlocking nail in a comminuted tibial fracture model: a biomechanical study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Background Treatment options for comminuted tibial shaft fractures include plating, intramedullary nailing, and external fixation. No biomechanical comparison between an interlocking tibia nail with external fixation by an Ilizarov frame has been ...

How Can Technology Improve Acetabular and Pelvic Fractures Management in the Operating Room? A Systematic Review

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, EarlyView.
New technologies are very attractive and are a promising help in pelvic and acetabular fractures surgery. Their results demonstrated greater surgical accuracy without increasing complications and need to be improved before being included in routine care.

Does Combined Intravenous and Topical Tranexamic Acid Offer Additional Benefit Compared With Intravenous or Topical Alone in Open Elbow Arthrolysis—A Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, EarlyView.
Open elbow arthrolysis is a common method for treating post‐traumatic elbow stiffness. Intravenous, topical, or combined tranexamic acid administration showed no significant difference in reducing postoperative blood loss after open elbow arthrolysis. However, both combined and topical tranexamic acid significantly reduced postoperative drainage volume

Measurement of Dosed Compression and Distraction of Tibia Fractures Treated with Ilizarov Circular External Fixation

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering
Complicated tibia fractures are still connected with significant problems of healing. Hence, the external Ilizarov fixators are applied, and then they are sometimes converted to internal fixators.

Analysis and an overview of fixators in medicine and the methods of processing materials for producing fixators

open access: yesVojnotehnički Glasnik, 2013
The fixator is a medical device that provides support to fractured biological structures. Metal biomaterials are mainly used for replacing broken or damaged hard tissues such as bones because of their high strenght, toughness and corrosion resistance ...

Application of Far Cortical Locking Technology in Periprosthetic Femoral Fracture Fixation: A Biomechanical Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
© 2016 Elsevier Inc. Background Lack of fracture movement could be a potential cause of periprosthetic femoral fracture (PFF) fixation failures. This study aimed to test whether the use of distal far cortical locking screws reduces the overall stiffness ...
