Preclinical Quantitative In Vivo MRI Assessment of Exogenous Surfactant Pulmonary Distribution After Clinically Relevant Intratracheal Delivery

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 6, June 2026.
Quantitative in vivo contrast‐enhanced UTE MRI enables sensitive and precise mapping of pulmonary surfactant distribution, revealing peripheral localization and homogeneous distal penetration under physiological conditions. Comparison with ex vivo models highlights the role of physiological processes in surfactant retention.

Uncommon Mechanism of Mangled Lower Limb Trauma: Case Report of Salvaged Leg Post Gear Box Explosion Injury

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Mangled limb injuries, typically caused by high‐energy trauma, present significant challenges in surgical decision‐making, particularly when considering limb salvage versus primary amputation. While common mechanisms include vehicular or industrial accidents, unconventional etiologies are rarely documented. We report a unique case of a 43‐year‐

Biomechanical Evaluation of a Locally Manufactured Modular External Fixator for Tibial Shaft Fractures

open access: yesPhilippine Journal of Orthopaedics
Background. Modular external fixations used in the Philippines are manufactured abroad, leading to high costs and limited availability, making them unaffordable for most Filipino patients. The reliability of some external fixators is limited because not

Postoperative weightbearing timing after distal femur osteotomy is not associated with rates of union or complications: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, Volume 34, Issue 5, Page 1776-1786, May 2026.
Abstract Purpose To assess the outcomes and complication rates of early weightbearing (either immediate weightbearing as tolerated or partial weightbearing) and delayed weightbearing (an initial period of non‐weightbearing or toe‐touch weightbearing) following distal femoral osteotomy (DFO).

A Novel Uni- and Biplanar External Fixator for Initial and Definitive Complex Foot Trauma

open access: yesFoot & Ankle Orthopaedics
Background: Evidence concerning the complex foot trauma, especially its definitive management, is scarce. Soft tissue envelope sequalae are the primary parameters that delay or make internal fixation implausible.

INFIX technique: A fit like a glove for anterior pelvic fractures – A case report

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Medicine and Research
A fracture of the pelvis involves damage to the hip bones, sacrum, or coccyx the bony structures forming the pelvic ring. The inherent structural and mechanical integrity of this ring makes the pelvis a highly stable structure.
