Influence of lime stabilization on shear strength parameters of silty clay soil [PDF]
Lime soil stabilization is a well-known and often used method. One of the methods of landslide stability improvement is changing soil with materials that have better physical and mechanical characteristics. In most of the methods for determining

Shear-Compression Failure Condition of Key Strata Under Elastic Support During Periodic Breakage
The shear-compression failure of key strata leads to stair-step collapse and severe mine pressure, posing significant safety risks in coal mines. Existing theories fail to account for the boundary conditions and breaking sizes of key strata, making ...

Ricochet of steel spheres on sand with varying water content
The explosion of a building generates plenty of debris that flies far away. The flying debris is hazardous because it contains large amounts of kinetic energy. Therefore, determining the safety distance from the debris is essential.

Food waste impact on municipal solid waste angle of internal friction
The impact of food waste content on the municipal solid waste (MSW) friction angle was studied. Using reconstituted fresh MSW specimens with different food waste content (0%, 40%, 58%, and 80%), 48 small-scale (100-mm-diameter) direct shear tests and 12 large-scale (430 mm × 430 mm) direct shear tests were performed.

In this study, a novel esterase from the thermoacidophilic archaeon Thermoplasma acidophilum was biochemically and structurally characterized. Our results demonstrate that Ta0887 is a highly thermostable esterase that preferentially hydrolyzes p‐nitrophenyl hexanoate and possesses an α‐helical cap domain that likely contributes to its substrate ...

Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Predicting the Angle of Internal Friction from Simple Dynamic Consolidation Using Lactose Grades as Model [PDF]
Powder flow and packing behavior are among other factors determined by particle friction, which is traditionally measured in shear cells as the angle of internal friction (AIF).
