Shakedown and limit analysis of 90° pipe bends under internal pressure, cyclic in-plane bending and cyclic thermal loading

open access: yes, 2011
The Linear Matching Method is used to create the shakedown limit and limit load interaction curves of 90 degree pipe bends for a range of bend factors.

A comparison of the physiological consequences of head-loading and back-loading for African and European women. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The aim is to quantify the physiological cost of head-load carriage and to examine the 'free ride' hypothesis for head-load carriage in groups of women differing in their experience of head-loading.

Internal Loading Distribution in Statically Loaded Ball Bearings Subjected to an Eccentric Thrust Load [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, 2009
Rolling‐element bearings are simple machine elements of great utility used both in simple commercial devices as in complex engineering mechanisms. Because of being a very popular machine element, there is a lot of literature on the subject. With regard to the behavior of internal loading distribution, elastic deformations at point or line contacts, and

Cognitive load in internal medicine: What every clinical teacher should know about cognitive load theory.

open access: yes, 2019
Internal medicine is an appropriate example of specialties in which to teach learners clinical reasoning skills, decision-making, and analytical thinking, as well as evidence-based, patient-oriented medicine.

Analysis of the External and Internal Load in 5vs5 Large Sided Games: Differences Between Different Sized Fields

open access: yesPhysical Education Theory and Methodology, 2021
The study purpose. The purpose of the study is to analyze and understand the internal and external load in Large Sided Games (LSG) exercises carried out on fields of different sizes, defined as Small – Large Sided Games (SLSG) and Big – Large Sided Games

Deep Sequencing of FLT3‐ITD Enables Response Evaluation and Post‐Treatment Monitoring in Childhood AML: An Exploratory Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background An internal tandem duplication in the gene encoding Fms‐like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3‐ITD) is associated with high relapse risk and poor prognosis in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and plays a crucial role in treatment decisions. Measurable residual disease (MRD) analysis of FLT3‐ITD during and after treatment has shown prognostic ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Ratchet analysis of structures under a generalised cyclic load history

open access: yes, 2014
This paper introduces a new approach based upon the Linear Matching Method in order to obtain the ratchet limit of structures subjected to an arbitrary thermo-mechanical load history. This method varies from the traditional Linear Matching Method ratchet
