Effect of chemotherapy on passenger mutations in metastatic colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Changes in passenger mutation load and predicted immunotherapy response after chemotherapy treatment. Tumor cells rich with passenger mutations have increased sensitivity to chemotherapy. Correlation of passenger mutations with neoantigen load suggests highly mutated clones promote a more effective response to immunotherapy, and therefore, first‐line ...

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Sekuen Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS) DNA ribosomal Oncobasidium theobromae dan jamur sekerabat pembanding Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS) sequences of ribosomal DNA Oncobasidium theobromae and other related fungi as comparison

open access: yesE-Journal Menara Perkebunan, 2016
AbstractThe objective of this research was to sequence ITSregion from ribosomal DNA of Oncobasidium theobromae, and to compare the sequences to the isolates from Vietnamand Malaysia, and also to identify other related fungi speciesbased on the homology of the ITS region. O. theobromae wasisolated from three cocoa plantations in Indonesia that wereJember,

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Cryptic Species: A Mismatch between Genetics and Morphology in Millepora [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Millepore morphology is highly variable and shows signs of phenotypic plasticity. Two species of Millepora are present around the islands of the Bahamas: one exhibiting a strong, blade-like structure, Millepora complanata, and the other having a delicate

Phylogenetic diversity analysis of Trichoderma species based on internal transcribed spacer (ITS) marker

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Biotechnology, 2014
The phylogeny of Trichoderma and the phylogenetic relationships of its species was investigated by maximum parsimony analysis and distance analysis of DNA sequences from multiple genetic loci 18S rDNA sequence analysis suggests that the genus Trichoderma evolved at the same time as Hypomyces and Fusarium and thus about 110 Myr ago 28S rDNA sequence ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Cryptic transcripts from a ubiquitous plasmid origin of replication confound tests for cis-regulatory function. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A vast amount of research on the regulation of gene expression has relied on plasmid reporter assays. In this study, we show that plasmids widely used for this purpose constitutively produce substantial amounts of RNA from a TATA-containing cryptic ...

Identification of Treculia africana L. varieties using Internal Transcribed Spacer Region 1 (ITS 1) and Internal Transcribed Spacer Region 2 (ITS 2) DNA barcodes

open access: yes
Abstract Background Treculia africana L. (African breadfruit), is an underutilized, underexploited, and endangered species of southern Nigeria. It has been identified and classified using anatomical features, but there is insufficient information on its molecular identification and classification.
