Predicting the Future Burden of Renal Replacement Therapy in Türkiye Using National Registry Data and Comparative Modeling Approaches

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic kidney disease is a growing public health problem worldwide, and the number of patients requiring renal replacement therapy is steadily increasing. Türkiye has experienced a similar rise in both the incidence and prevalence of renal replacement therapy over the past decades; however, national‐level projections of future ...

Accurate nonlinear stability analysis of functionally graded multilayer hybrid composite cylindrical shells subjected to combined loads

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2019
An accurate nonlinear buckling model for functional graded multilayer hybrid composites cylindrical shells under combined loads is proposed. A two-steps micromechanical approach including Halpin-Tsai and Mori-Tanaka method is employed to obtain the ...

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Investigation of Pyrophosphates KYP2O7Co-Doped with Lanthanide Ions Useful for Theranostics

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2019
Diphosphate compounds (KYP2O7) co-doped with Yb3+ and Er3+ ions were obtained by one step urea assisted combustion synthesis. The experimental parameters of synthesis were optimized using an experimental design approach related to co-dopants ...

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Internal Cluster Structure [PDF]

open access: yesSpace Science Reviews, 2013
The core structure of galaxy clusters is fundamentally important. Even though self-gravitating systems have no stable equilibrium state due to their negative heat capacity, numerical simulations find density profiles which are universal in the sense that they are fairly flat within a scale radius and gradually steepen farther outward, asymptotically ...

In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Two-Dimensional Silver Bismuth Oxide/Bismuth Molybdate Z-Scheme Heterojunctions with Rich Oxygen Vacancies for Improved Pollutant Degradation and Bacterial Inactivation

open access: yesCrystals
The effective removal of organic pollutants and bacteria are of great significance considering the hazards to the environment and human health. The two-dimensional AgBiO3/Bi2MoO6 heterojunction with rich oxygen vacancies was successfully fabricated via a

Single-molecule imaging of UvrA and UvrB recruitment to DNA lesions in living Escherichia coli

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
Nucleotide excision repair is able to identify and remove a wide range of DNA helix distorting lesions from the genome. Here the authors use single molecule imaging of UvrA and UvrB molecules and suggest a two-step ‘scan and recruit’ model for UvrA ...

Uranus’s complex internal structure

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Context. Uranus’s bulk composition remains unknown. Although there are clear indications that Uranus’s interior is not fully convec-tive, and therefore has a non-adiabatic temperature profile, many interior models continue to assume an adiabatic interior. Aims.
