Connections of the laterodorsal tegmental nucleus with the habenular‐interpeduncular‐raphe system
Journal of Comparative Neurology, 2019AbstractThe laterodorsal tegmental nucleus (LDTg) is a hindbrain cholinergic cell group thought to be involved in mechanisms of arousal and the control of midbrain dopamine cells. Nowadays, there is increasing evidence that LDTg is also engaged in mechanisms of anxiety/fear and promotion of emotional arousal under adverse conditions.

We used correlative biochemical and histochemical methods to examine (1) the norepinephrine (NE) projection from the paired locus coeruleus (LC) to the midline interpeduncular nucleus (IPN) of the adult rat and (2) the ability of the LC to respond to denervation of their target following removal of noradrenergic afferents (6-hydroxydopamine lesions of ...

The morphology of the interpeduncular nucleus of man: a Golgi observation.
Zeitschrift fur mikroskopisch-anatomische Forschung, 1983The interpeduncular nucleus (ITP) of man has been studied from a human brain impregnated "in toto" by the Golgi method. A wax model reconstructed from serial sections gives information on its size, its shape and its position within the brain. Its volume was also calculated.

A cluster analysis of the neurons of the rat interpeduncular nucleus.
Journal of anatomy, 1995The morphometric characteristics of the neurons of the interpeduncular nucleus (IPN) in the rat were investigated by cluster analysis in order to identify neuronal groups which are morphometrically homogeneous, and to define their position and density in the IPN subnuclei. Two clusters of cells were detected.
