This thesis aims to measure and control behavior of ions in solution near a charged, or electrified, surface. Such electrochemical systems are found everywhere, ranging from biological to industrial processes, and can be greatly affected by small changes at the boundary between the solid and the liquid.

This review systematically summarizes recent advances in porosity engineering of MXenes, with a focused discussion on their structure‐governed energy storage properties. A critical analysis of structure–property relationships is presented across alkali‐ion batteries, multivalent‐ion batteries, and supercapacitors.

Ab Initio Guided Low Temperature Synthesis Strategy for Smooth Face–Centred Cubic FeMn Thin Films
The sputter deposition of FeMn thin films with thicknesses in the range of hundred nanometres and beyond requires relatively high growth temperatures for the formation of the face-centred cubic (fcc) phase, which results in high thin film roughness.

Actuation of Cell Layers in Three Dimensions
ABSTRACT The alignment of fibers and cells in living tissues affect their mechanical properties and functionality. In this context, one can draw an analogy between tissues and nematic liquid crystal elastomers. We explore this analogy by growing fibroblasts on 2D‐patterned substrates and observing the contraction of cell sheets upon detachment from the

This review traces the evolution of lithium‐ion battery separators from passive barriers to multifunctional components central to cell safety and performance. Polymer‐ceramic hybrids, nanofiber architectures, and bio‐derived membranes deliver ionic conductivities above 3 mS cm−1, thermal stability beyond 200 °C, and effective suppression of lithium ...

Closed‐loop Recycling of Sulfide Solid Electrolytes from Spent Solid‐State Sodium Batteries
Closed‐loop recycling of sulfide solid electrolyte via a mild dissolution–recrystallization–thermal treatment process enables efficient recovery from spent all‐solid‐state sodium batteries. The regenerated material preserves the crystal structure, local coordination, and chemical states, maintaining high ionic conductivity, reduced interfacial ...

This study proposes a function‐sharing anode design to enable nonmetallic lithium insertion while maintaining intimate interfacial contact with the solid‐state electrolyte. A combination of lithium‐compatible and conformable borohydrides, highly conformable indium metal, less‐graphitized acetylene black, and a layer of highly graphitized massive ...

On the Question of Epigenetic Mechanisms of Kariogenomic Winter Wheat in the Concept of Supramolecular Biochemistry [PDF]
For the first time, experimental data on the epigenetic mechanisms of the Arg-X localization zones of protease processing of karyogenic hexaploid winter wheat are considered in the concept of supramolecular biochemistry, in terms of transforming super ...

Phase Diagrams Enable Solid‐State Battery Design
Batteries are non‐equilibrium devices with inherent thermodynamic driving forces to react at interfaces, regardless of kinetics or operating conditions. Chemical potential mismatches across interfaces are dissipated via interfacial reactions. In this work, it is illustrated how phase diagrams and chemical potential maps predict degradation pathways but
