The effect of interphase curing on interphase properties and formation
The Journal of Adhesion, 2002Fiber-optic evanescent wave FTIR spectroscopy was combined with phase imaging AFM to examine two thermosetting polymer matrix composite systems. The epoxy/NMA system data from the fiber-optic, evanescent wave FTIR analysis showed incomplete curing (∼75% complete) in the region near the fiber, but essentially complete (∼95% complete) curing in the bulk.

Visualization of interphase chromosomes
Journal of Cell Science, 1977ABSTRACT Using a modified Giemsa-banding technique we have observed what appear to be chromosomes during interphase in nuclei from Allium cepa root tips and Chinese hamster cells (CHO line). During telophase through G1 chromosomes progressively uncoil and decondense.

Ultrastructure of interphase chromosomes
Experimental Cell Research, 1967A study of the ultrastructure of interphase chromosomes of frog erythrocytes and human leucocytes suggested that the 500, 250 and 100 A microfibrils observed in different preparations may represent different orders of coiling of a basic 40–60 A microfibril.

Interphase in Composite Materials
Key Engineering Materials, 1996Interphase is an essential part of a composite material. It can provide optimal interfacial properties to allow debonding between the fibre and the ceramic matrix so as to improve the toughness of ceramics. It can act as a diffusion barrier to stop or retard the chemical reaction between the reinforcement and the metal matrix at service temperatures so

A view of Interphase Chromosomes
Science, 1990Metaphase chromosomes are dynamically modified in interphase. This review focuses on how these structures can be modified, and explores the functional mechanisms and significance of these changes. Current analyses of genes often focus on relatively short stretches of DNA and consider chromatin conformations that incorporate only a few kilobases of DNA.

Interphases that form on the anode surface of lithium-ion batteries are critical for performance and lifetime, but are poorly understood. Now, a decade-old misconception regarding a main component of the interphase has been revealed, which could potentially lead to improved devices.

Abstract This book addresses the fundamental issues in the phase-based approach to the mental computation of language that have arisen from the recent developments in the Minimalist Program. Leading linguists and promising young scholars from all over the world focus on two topics that are in the centre of current theorizing in syntax

On the nanoparticle interphase
2012 Annual Report Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena, 2012It has been well documented that the addition of nanoparticles, size less than 100 nm, to various polymer matrices leads to desirable properties, including higher permittivity values and increase in the storage modulus. Often these improvements are related to the nanoparticle-matrix interphase, a region with properties different from both the matrix ...

Whereas homogeneous systems are relatively easily described, cellular processes are heterogeneous and more difficult to describe. Because so many processes occur that require the exchange of components across at least one phase, it is extremely valuable for the biological scientist to have an understanding of the forces and structures that act in the ...
