Epoxy–amine/metal interphases: Influences from sharp needle-like crystal formation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
When epoxy–amine liquid mixtures are applied onto metallic oxide layer, concomitant amine chemical sorption and metallic surface dissolution appear leading to the organo-metallic complex formation.

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Measuring surface-area-to-volume ratios in soft porous materials using laser-polarized xenon interphase exchange NMR

open access: yes, 2001
We demonstrate a minimally invasive nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technique that enables determination of the surface-area-to-volume ratio (S/V) of soft porous materials from measurements of the diffusive exchange of laser-polarized 129Xe between gas ...

Understanding and Tuning Mobile Interfaces in Ferroelectric Hf0.5Zr0.5O2 Thin Films in Relation to Microstructure

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ferroelectricity in thin HfO2‐based films offers great possibilities for next‐generation neuromorphic memory devices. There, the response to subcoercive voltage signals is driven by the movement of mobile interfaces and their interaction with crystal defects – a yet rather unexplored aspect, which we shed light on and gain new insights into the complex

Short- and Long-Range Mechanical and Chemical Interphases Caused by Interaction of Boehmite (γ-AlOOH) with Anhydride-Cured Epoxy Resins

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2019
Understanding the interaction between boehmite and epoxy and the formation of their interphases with different mechanical and chemical structures is crucial to predict and optimize the properties of epoxy-boehmite nanocomposites.

Interfaces and interfacial effects in glass reinforced thermoplastics - Keynote Presentation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Optimization of the fibre-matrix interphase region is critical to achieving the required performance level in thermoplastic matrix composites. Due to its initial location on the fibre surface, the sizing layer is an important component in the formation ...

Rapid metaphase and interphase detection of radiation-induced chromosome aberrations in human lymphocytes by chromosomal suppression in situ hybridization [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
Chromosomal in situ suppression (CISS)-hybridization of biotinylated phage DNA-library inserts from sorted human chromosomes was used to decorate chromosomes 1 and 7 specifically from pter to qter and to detect structural aberrations of these chromosomes

Influence of the interphase between laser-cladded metal layer and steel substrate on the fatigue propagation of a short edge crack

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2022
Laser cladding is a relatively new technology used to combine properties of various materials. As a result, bi-material interfaces now occur in real structures and can affect fatigue crack propagation.
