Ray Tracing Method in a General Non‐Dipole Magnetic Field
Abstract We present a new general mathematical formulation of the Eikonal equations for ray tracing, which can use any internal magnetic field model. The analytical and tractable expressions are conveniently based on a vector formalism, which is independent of any coordinate system.

Abstract The Cassini spacecraft spent 13 years orbiting Saturn, quasi‐continuously measuring Saturn's radio emissions. One of the key elements of the radio spectrum at Saturn is the Saturn Kilometric Radiation (SKR), and several studies have been written on events called Low Frequency Extensions (LFEs) which represent strong, continuous extensions of ...

Structural Evolution of Antigorite by High‐Velocity Impacts
Abstract Serpentine is a major hydrous mineral present in hydrous asteroids that have evolved through planetary impacts. Understanding its dynamic behavior is essential to elucidate the redistribution and retention of water during high‐velocity impact processes. The shock response of antigorite was examined at pressures up to 106 GPa using laser‐driven

A Novel Blast Wave Solution for the Propagation of Coronal And Interplanetary Shocks
Coronal mass ejections (CMEs) and their associated shock waves have severe space weather effects in the near-Earth space. Therefore, predicting the propagation and arrival time of the CME/shock is an important component of the space weather forecast.

The θBn problem: Determination of local magnetic parameters of interplanetary shocks from in situ IMF data [PDF]
The angle θBn is the angle between the upstream magnetic field and the shock normal direction and is important for many phenomena in interplanetary physics.

Ion‐Acoustic Waves Associated With Interplanetary Shocks
AbstractIon‐acoustic waves (IAWs) commonly occur near interplanetary (IP) shocks. These waves are important because of their potential role in the dissipation required for collisionless shocks to exist. We study IAW occurrence statistically at different heliocentric distances using Solar Orbiter to identify the processes responsible for IAW generation ...

Abstract Accurate forecasting of geomagnetic perturbations is essential for assessing space weather risk of geomagnetic activities. Thanks to decades of magnetometer observations from world‐wide distributed networks and upstream solar wind observations at L1, data‐driven modeling of global geomagnetic perturbations has become increasingly feasible ...

Low Density Drivers of Strong Interplanetary Shocks [PDF]
AbstractThe theory that most, if not all, interplanetary shocks are caused by coronal mass ejections (CMEs) faces serious problems in accounting for the strongest shocks. The difficulties include (i) a remarkable absence of very strong shocks during solar maximum 1980 when CMEs were prolific, (ii) unrealistic initial speeds near the Sun for impulsive ...

An Ionospheric Storm Scale Index Based on TEC: Comparative Analysis for China Region
Abstract Defining a standardized ionospheric storm scale is challenging given the ionosphere's inherent complexity and susceptibility to multiple driving factors. In this study, a novel ionospheric storm scale (ISS) index is developed based on statistical analysis of total electron content (TEC) data from 257 ground‐based GNSS stations across China ...

Abstract We present the first real‐time predictions of coronal mass ejection (CME) magnetic structure and resulting geomagnetic impact at Earth for two events using far‐upstream observations from Solar Orbiter during March 2024. While our approach assumes idealized conditions for CME propagation and scaling, in situ magnetic field data from upstream ...
