Inhibitory Decay and Supercritical Brain Dynamics During Sleep Deprivation
Sleep deprivation progressively shifts human brain dynamics from near‐critical toward supercritical states, as revealed by neuronal avalanche analysis of resting‐state fMRI. These changes track subjective sleep pressure rather than vigilance lapses and show marked network heterogeneity. A circuit model suggests that reduced inhibitory efficacy provides

Euclidean Approach to Green-Wave Theory Applied to Traffic Signal Networks
A recent paper (Friedman et al., 2024) introduced a traffic signal control procedure that allows motorists who travel at a recommended speed on suburban arterial two-way roads to make every traffic signal.

On the repulsion effect of coupled Lamb wave modes
This work investigates the phenomenon of mode repulsion in coupled Lamb wave systems. By mechanically coupling two dissimilar plates using spring elements, it is shown that previously intersecting Lamb wave modes are repelled, avoiding any crossing in ...

Unconventional Hysteretic Charge Filling in Moiré‐Reconstructed Helical Trilayer Graphene
In helical trilayer graphene, sequential twisting reconstructs the moiré landscape into periodic domains separated by aperiodic boundaries. Longitudinal transport reveals sweep‐direction‐dependent hysteresis, while the Hall response traces this behavior to hysteretic charge filling at the aperiodic boundaries.

Rod Origami (RodOri) springs harness snap‐through instabilities of pre‐stressed curved rods with geometrically programmable buckling behavior. Integrating RodOri springs with distinct geometries yields multistable metamaterials that undergo stepwise reconfiguration via sequential snapping, achieving wide‐range tunability of stiffness and resonance ...

Time-Explicit Simulation of Wave Interaction in Optical Waveguide Crossings at Large Angles
The time-explicit finite-difference time-domain method is used to simulate wave interaction in optical waveguide crossings at large angles. The wave propagation at the intersecting structure is simulated by time stepping the discretized form of the ...

This study uncovers a metabolic‐epigenetic axis licensing zygotic genome activation (ZGA) in mouse embryos. A developmental decline in NAD+ levels activates PARP7, which mono‐ADP‐ribosylates and stabilizes UHRF1. This modification promotes the establishment of permissive histone acetylation marks, thereby facilitating timely ZGA.

Super‐Resolution and High‐Data‐Density Acoustic Meta‐Hologram via Amplitude and Phase Coupling
A super‐resolution acoustic meta‐hologram utilizes amplitude‐phase coupling under energy conservation constraints to overcome the traditional diffraction limit. This conceptually advanced approach achieves high‐fidelity acoustic field reconstruction and dense information transmission, unlocking new potentials for high‐resolution acoustic imaging and ...
