Hox Gene Variation Drives Morphological Specialization of Humpback Grouper Cromileptes altivelis
Cromileptes altivelis exhibits a distinctive “sunken head and humpback” morphology, formed through cranial remodeling. Genetic analyses identified unique amino acid variants in Hoxa7a and Hoxa10b, with functional tests confirming their role in enhancing osteoblast activity and driving cranial remodeling.

We decode mitochondrial genomes across all extant canids, revealing lineage‐specific codon optimization driven by altitude, predation, and body size. A tripartite framework integrates geological events, metabolic constraints, and adaptive radiation to explain carnivore evolution.

Plasticity of parental CENH3 incorporation into the centromeres in wheat × barley F1 hybrids
Incorporating the centromere-specific histone H3 protein CENH3 into the centromeric nucleosomes is indispensable for accurate centromere function and balanced chromosome segregation in most eukaryotes, including higher plants.

Morphological description of Carthamus tinctorius x C. oxyacantha hybrid [PDF]
Fertile interspecific hybrids were produced between the cultivated safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) and wild species, C.oxyacantha Bieb. Location of branches on main axis, angle of branching, upper leaf shape and colour, length of spines on ...

Evaluation of Yield and Healthiness of Twenty Table Grapevine Cultivars Grown in Central Poland
During the years 2008-2013, 20 table grape cultivars grown in Skierniewice (Central Poland) were assessed. Among the assessed cultivars, two - ‘Chasselas Blanc’ (standard) and ‘Favorit’ belonged to V. vinifera.

How genomics fuel breeding: unraveling the structure of infectious eBSV lead to the end of the BSV constraint for breeding banana interspecific hybrids [PDF]
Infections of banana and plantain by banana streak viruses (BSV) can occur in the absence of vector-mediated transmission, through the activation of infectious endogenous BSV sequences (eBSVs).

‘Centennial’ Baccharis Interspecific Hybrid
Abstract The interspecific baccharis hybrid ‘Centennial’ has been released by the Univ. of Arizona Agricultural Experiment Station as a landscape plant suited for arid regions. The name ‘Centennial’ was given to commemorate the 100th year of the opening of the Univ. of Arizona as a land grant college.

We have found evidence of behavioural barriers for both hybridization and disease transmission between European wildcats and domestic cats. This includes hierarchical interspecies exclusion enforced by wildcats, as well as sexual selection exerted by wildcat females.
