Interval observers for uncertain biological systems

Ecological Modelling, 2000
We present a technique for the dynamic estimation of bounds on unmeasured variables (or parameters) of an uncertain dynamical system. Our approach is purely deterministic and relies on interval observers: from (possibly time varying) intervals on the uncertainty and measurements, we compute guaranteed intervals for the unmeasured variables. This method

Interval observer composed of observers for nonlinear systems

2014 European Control Conference (ECC), 2014
For a family of continuous-time nonlinear systems with input, output and uncertain terms, a new interval observer design is proposed. The main feature of the constructed interval observer is that it is composed of two copies of a classical observer whose corresponding error equations are, in general, not cooperative.

Interval Colorectal Cancer 2006–2015: Novel Observations

Digestive Diseases and Sciences, 2020
Screening for colorectal cancer (CRC) with colonoscopy has been credited for the majority of the decline in mortality over the past 40 years. However, colonoscopy is hampered by frequent interval cancers (ICs) occurring within 36 months after the last examination.

Interval observers for linear systems with delay

Proceedings of the 48h IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC) held jointly with 2009 28th Chinese Control Conference, 2009
This paper focuses on the analysis of some classes of observers for linear systems with a point-wise delay. First, it is pointed out that, classical interval observers for systems without delays are not robust with respect to the presence of delays that appear in a specific structure location, no matter how small it is.

Interval observers design for singularly perturbed systems

53rd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2014
This paper deals with interval observers design for two-time singularly perturbed systems. The full-order system is firstly decoupled into slow and fast subsystems. Then, using the cooperativity theory, an interval observer is designed for the slow subsystem assuming that the singular perturbed parameter is uncertain.

OBSERVER GAIN EFFECT IN LINEAR INTERVAL OBSERVER-BASED FAULT DETECTION

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2006
Abstract In case of model uncertainty is located in parameters (interval model), an interval observer has been shown to be a suitable strategy to generate an adaptive threshold to be used in residual evaluation. In interval observer-based fault detection methods, the observer gain plays an important role.
