Observing behavior during interval schedules.
Journal of the experimental analysis of behavior, 1967Experiment 1 showed that the three stimuli associated with three chained fixed-interval links could be used to maintain observing behavior. Experiment 2 showed that three stimuli correlated with the passage of time since the last reinforcement in a fixed-interval schedule could be used to maintain observing behavior.

OFDM Guard Interval: Analysis and Observations
2007 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing - ICASSP '07, 2007Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is a modulation technique that is used in many modern digital communication systems and has been explored in numerous publications. Specifically, the tradeoff between throughput and ICI/ISI (intercarrier interference/intersymbol interference), which affects the length of the guard interval (GI) is well ...

An easy design for interval observers
International Journal of Control, 2019This paper deals with the problem of interval estimation. The proposed approach is based on the use of successive derivatives in continuous time (or forward measurements in discrete time) in an alg...

Confidence Intervals from one Observation
1996Robert Machol’s surprising result, that from a single observation it is possible to have finite length confidence intervals for the parameters of location-scale models, is re-produced and extended. Two previously unpublished modifications are included. First, Herbert Robbins non-parametric confidence interval is obtained.

Shorter Confidence Intervals Using Prior Observations
Journal of the American Statistical Association, 1969Abstract The purpose of this paper is to make the reader aware of the applicability and advantage of a particular mathematical model. The application is typified by an example and the advantage is via confidence intervals; that is, shorter confidence intervals are possible using the model than if one ignores it, providing the applicability is valid. It

Continuous ‐ discrete interval observers for monitoring microalgae cultures
Biotechnology Progress, 2009AbstractAlgorithms estimating unmeasured component concentrations play a key role in bioprocess applications where only a few on‐line measurements are usually available. In this article, interval observers are designed to provide guaranteed intervals for the key components involved in cultures of microalgae.

Joint unknown input observer for descriptor system based on interval observer
ISA TransactionsIn this paper, a novel joint unknown input observer (JUIO) is proposed for a class of descriptor systems. The unknown input (UI) to be estimated injects additively into both the state and output equations in a state space model. To the best of our knowledge, only a few contributions in existing work address this problem directly.

Optimal Control for Partially Observed Nonlinear Interval Systems
Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement, and Control, 2019In this paper, we consider the optimal control problem for a class of systems governed by nonlinear time-varying partially observed interval differential equations. The control process is assumed to be governed by linear time varying interval differential equation driven by the observed process.
