Eosinophils‐Induced Lumican Secretion by Synovial Fibroblasts Alleviates Cartilage Degradation via the TGF‐β Pathway Mediated by Anxa1 Binding

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 29, August 7, 2025.
Eosinophils play a crucial role in the progression of temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJOA). This study demonstrates that eosinophils, induced by OVA/IL‐5, promote Lumican secretion in the synovium, which binds to Annexin A1 in chondrocytes, inhibiting transforming growth factor β2 and Smad2/3 phosphorylation.

Sex Differences in Frailty in Milan Over the Last 2000 Years: A Hazards‐Based and Cumulative Phenotype Approach

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Biological Anthropology, Volume 187, Issue 4, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Objectives Frailty in bioarchaeology has garnered increasing interest in recent decades, particularly for analyzing and comparing past health across different groups and populations. A hazards‐based cumulative phenotype approach was applied to 492 adult males and females from five consecutive historical periods in the city of Milan: Roman (2nd–

Sonographic Anatomy and Imaging of the Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex and the Distal Radio‐Ulnar Joint

open access: yesAustralasian Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine, Volume 28, Issue 3, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction Ulnar‐sided wrist pain is a common clinical problem, which can be difficult to diagnose, manage and treat. Ultrasound imaging can be used to identify structural changes which may contribute to the pain. Knowledge of the associated relative anatomy and intertwining structures which form the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC ...

Suppurative Spondylitis Misdiagnosed as Endplate Inflammation: A Rare Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 8, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Spinal infectious diseases are difficult to diagnose and treat; we reported a case of pyogenic spondylitis misdiagnosed as terminal discitis and successfully treated. The application of metagenomic next‐generation sequencing technology holds promise in greatly improving diagnostic efficiency.

The Effects of Vertebral Body Tethering on the Intervertebral Discs and Facet Joints: A Numerical Analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Biomedical Engineering, Volume 41, Issue 8, August 2025.
The tether pretension within vertebral body tethering is a key parameter that modifies the stress field of the IVD and the contact forces at the facet joints. ABSTRACT Anterior vertebral body tethering (VBT) is a promising technique for the treatment of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.
