Engineering Efferocytosis for Bone Regeneration

open access: yesMacromolecular Bioscience, EarlyView.
The repair of bone tissue in acute and chronic injuries is a significant long‐standing clinical challenge. Biomaterials‐based interventions are well‐positioned to interrogate mechanisms of efferocytosis due to their ability to provide support and guide cellular activity.

Clinical characterization of thoracolumbar and lumbar intervertebral disk extrusions in English Cocker Spaniels.

open access: yesJournal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 2016
OBJECTIVE To assess the anatomic distribution of thoracolumbar and lumbar intervertebral disk extrusions (IVDEs) in English Cocker Spaniels as compared with findings in Dachshunds and to characterize clinical findings in English Cocker Spaniels with ...

Quantitative abdominal sodium MRI combined with 32‐channel proton pTx MRI at 7 Tesla in a large field‐of‐view

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To combine large field‐of‐view abdominal 1H$$ {}^1\mathrm{H} $$ and quantitative sodium ( 23Na$$ {}^{23}\mathrm{Na} $$) MRI in the same position at 7 T to enable the quantification of the tissue sodium concentration via 23Na$$ {}^{23}\mathrm{Na} $$ MRI and the anatomical assignment in 1H$$ {}^1\mathrm{H} $$ images without repositioning

Chronic sequelae and owner burdens are common following canine intervertebral disc disease

open access: yesVeterinary Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Canine intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) is common and may be managed conservatively or surgically. However, little is known about long‐term sequelae, quality of life and owners’ emotional burden after diagnosis. Methods Information regarding signalment, neuroanatomical lesion localisation, diagnostic imaging results and treatment ...

Itaconate-loaded metal–organic framework (MOF) nanomedicine for the sustained treatment of intervertebral disk degeneration

open access: yesAPL Materials
Intervertebral disk degeneration (IVDD) is a major cause of spinal pathology and pain and can lead to disability in adults in severe cases. The medication against disk degeneration is limited due to the lack of therapeutic drugs and ineffective delivery ...

Single‐cell spatial transcriptomic sequencing and machine learning models uncover molecular mechanisms and diagnostic biomarkers of Peyronie's disease formation in rats

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Peyronie's disease (PD) is a common male reproductive system disorder. The exact etiology of PD remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate molecular and cellular changes in PD using single‐cell spatial transcriptomics. Abstract Peyronie's disease (PD), commonly known as penile induration, is a prevalent male reproductive system disorder with ...

Gastric dilatation secondary to incarceration through a gastrosplenic omental rent in a dog

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract A 2‐year‐old, entire, female Dogue de Bordeaux presented with inappetence and abdominal distension. Radiographs revealed gastric dilatation and malpositioning. Given the absence of classical signs of gastric dilatation and volvulus, a medical approach was elected. After 24 hours, the dog's condition deteriorated.
