The coelurosaur theropods of the Romualdo formation, early Cretaceous (Aptian) of Brazil: Santanaraptor placidus meets Mirischia asymmetrica

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The upper carbonate concretion levels of the Romualdo Formation (Aptian, Brazil) have yielded several theropod dinosaur remains, including spinosaurids and the coelurosaurs Santanaraptor placidus and Mirischia asymmetrica, the phylogenetic affinities of which are controversial.

The importance of larynx videoendoscopy in diagnosis of recurrent laryngeal nerve injury after anterior approach

open access: yesColuna/Columna, 2010
INTRODUÇÃO: o reconhecimento da lesão do nervo laríngeo recorrente (NLR) após tratamento cirúrgico de hérnia discal cervical via anterior é importante na evolução clínica do paciente e, em especial, nos casos de reintervenção.

Patterns of spinal motion, kinematic spaces and the land‐to‐sea transition in carnivorans

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Using 3D reconstructions, we quantify intervertebral joint mobility to investigate how cervical, thoracic, and lumbar vertebral regions evolved distinct kinematic roles in pinnipeds. The findings reveal lineage‐specific adaptations for swimming and highlight the functional significance of vertebral joint flexibility in ecological transitions.

The Impact of Aging on the Anatomical Course of the Azygos Vein: A Retrospective, Computed Tomography Study

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The azygos vein (AV) is typically described as ascending vertically to the right of the vertebral column before arching anteriorly to drain into the superior vena cava. However, a small number of studies suggest that it is found leftward in older adults.

An Essential Role for B1 Integrin Mediated Cell-Matrix Interactions in the Development and Maintenance of the Nucleus Pulposus

open access: yesGlobal Spine Journal, 2012
Introduction In humans, the almost total disappearance of notochordal cells in the nucleus pulposus (NP) correlates with early degenerative changes in the intervertebral disk which include changes in the extracellular matrix (ECM).

Spatiotemporal cellular dynamics of the notochord shape intervertebral disc morphogenesis in the mouse embryo through apoptosis and proliferation

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The notochord is a midline structure essential for vertebrate embryogenesis, contributing to the development of the nervous system, digestive tract, and vertebral column. In particular, notochord signaling is indispensable for proper patterning and coordinated development of alternating vertebrae and intervertebral discs (IVDs ...
