Cytokeratin immunoreactivity of intestinal metaplasia [PDF]

open access: bronzeGut, 2002
We read with great interest the well designed study of Couvelard et al ( Gut 2001; 49 :761–6). In agreement with other studies,1–3 the authors reported that cytokeratin (CK) 7 and 20 immunoreactivity in the specialised intestinal metaplasia found in Barrett’s oesophagus differs from the intestinal metaplasia found in the stomach.

Molecular Alterations in Gastric Intestinal Metaplasia [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2021
Gastric cancer (GC) remains one of the most common causes of mortality worldwide. Intestinal metaplasia (IM) is one of the preneoplastic gastric lesions and is considered an essential predisposing factor in GC development. Here we present a review of recent most relevant papers to summarize major findings on the molecular alterations in gastric IM. The

Minute lesions of intestinal metaplasia composed of a few metaplastic tubules were observed in the gastric mucosa during routine histological examination of gastrectomy specimens. The histological findings indicated that these lesions might be an initial stage of more advanced intestinal metaplasia.
