Mutations in RAD21 disrupt regulation of APOB in patients with chronic intestinal pseudo-obstruction.

open access: yesGastroenterology, 2015
BACKGROUND & AIMS Chronic intestinal pseudo-obstruction (CIPO) is characterized by severe intestinal dysmotility that mimics a mechanical subocclusion with no evidence of gut obstruction.

TOMM20 as a driver of cancer aggressiveness via oxidative phosphorylation, maintenance of a reduced state, and resistance to apoptosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.

Escape from TGF‐β‐induced senescence promotes aggressive hallmarks in epithelial hepatocellular carcinoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Chronic TGF‐β exposure drives epithelial HCC cells from a senescent state to a TGF‐β resistant mesenchymal phenotype. This transition is characterized by the loss of Smad3‐mediated signaling, escape from senescence, enhanced invasiveness and metastatic potential, and upregulation of key resistance modulators such as MARK1 and GRM8, ultimately promoting

Consequences of Hydrogel Granules Swallowing by Children: Case Study

open access: yesВопросы современной педиатрии, 2020
Background. When hydrogel granules enter into gastrointestinal tract (GIT) they start to adsorb water, increase in volume and can cause obturation intestinal obstruction.

Giant Meckel's diverticulum: An exceptional cause of intestinal obstruction.

open access: yesWorld Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery, 2014
Meckel's diverticulum (MD) results from incomplete involution of the proximal portion of the vitelline (also known as the omphalomesenteric) duct during weeks 5-7 of foetal development.

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

Chronic descending colon obstruction caused by congenital band

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Surgery Case Reports, 2022
A congenital band is an infrequent abnormality. Intestinal obstruction caused by an anomalous congenital band is very rare in children. Herein, we present the case of a 6-year-old patient with intestinal obstruction due to a congenital band.

Apple-peel atresia presenting as foetal intestinal obstruction

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Paediatric Surgery, 2011
Apple-peel atresia or Type 3 jejuno-ileal atresia (JIA) is an uncommon cause of foetal intestinal obstruction. Bowel obstruction in the foetus is diagnosed on the prenatal ultrasonography only in 50% cases.

Acute intestinal obstruction secondary to left paraduodenal hernia: a case report and literature review

open access: yesWorld Journal of Emergency Surgery, 2013
IntroductionAn internal hernia is a protrusion of bowel through a normal or abnormal orifice in the peritoneum or mesentery. Although they are considered as a rare cause of intestinal obstruction, paraduodenal hernias are the most common type of ...
