2014Intestinal polyps are abnormal mucosal or submucosal growths that bulge into the lumen of the intestine. Gastrointestinal polyps in children commonly occur in the rectum or colon. Most colon polyps in children are benign. Intestinal polyps occur in children between 1 and 6 years of age, but polyps can occur at any age.
