Impact of positive flow cytometry crossmatch on outcomes of intestinal/multivisceral transplantation: role anti-IL-2 receptor antibody

open access: yes, 2013
Positive crossmatch may be associated with an increased risk of acute rejection (AR) and worse overall outcomes after intestinal/multivisceral (MV) transplantation. However, the evidence from published studies in this setting is sparse and contradictory.

A Skull Bone Marrow‐to‐Brain Axis Links Osteoblastic Activity to Myeloid Cell Trafficking, Cerebral Blood Flow, and Cognition in Alzheimer's Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that Alzheimer's disease–linked APP expression in bone‐forming cells drives skull bone marrow remodeling and alters its vascular connections to the brain. These changes disrupt immune cell trafficking, cerebral blood flow, and cognition. Targeting bone marrow macrophages restores brain function, highlighting a previously unrecognized

PIEZO1 is Required for Acute Myeloid Leukemia Progression and Leukemia Stem Cell Maintenance via HIF1A‐SLC7A11 Axis‐Mediated Ferroptosis Defense

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies the mechanosensor PIEZO1 as a key factor in promoting acute myeloid leukemia progression and uncovers a ferroptosis defense system mediated by PIEZO1‐HIF1A‐SLC7A11 axis that is essential for leukemia stem cell maintenance. This ferroptotic defense system may represent a unique vulnerability for leukemia stem cells, providing a ...

Sulfated Cyclocarya Paliurus Polysaccharide Sorchestrates the Gut Microbiome to Mobilize a Host‐Derived 12‐HEPE Against Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A sulfated polysaccharide (SCP) from Cyclocarya paliurus alleviates ulcerative colitis by reshaping the gut microbiome. This remodeled microbiota orchestrates the upregulation of the host‐derived lipid 12‐HEPE, which directly inhibits the TLR4/NF‐κB pathway to suppress inflammation.

Chronic kidney disease - a common and serious complication after intestinal transplantation

open access: yes, 2008
Background. Chronic kidney disease after organ transplantation is a serious complication that negatively impacts on long-term patient survival. We describe long-term renal function after intestinal transplantation by serial measurements of glomerular ...

Mastication‐Induced Electrical Stimulation Activates Prg4+ Chondroprogenitors for Osteoarthritis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a ″trash‐to‐treasure″ strategy that converts harmful joint overloads into beneficial electrical cues. The biodegradable MagPie, by providing piezoelectrical stimulation and releasing Mg2+ during mastication, exerts synergistic pro‐regenerative and anti‐inflammatory effects on Prg4+ cells via the ECM‐mediated FAK‐PI3K‐Akt axis ...
