A fast intra coding algorithm for HEVC
2014 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2014High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) is the emerging video coding standard, which provides equivalent subjective quality with about 50% bit rate reduction compared to H.264/AVC High Profile. However, the improvement of coding efficiency is obtained at the expense of increased computational complexity.

Advanced Scanning for Intra Frame Coding
2006 International Conference on Image Processing, 2006In this paper, it is shown that the coding efficiency of the current video compression standard H.264/AVC is not invariant to the orientation of the image. The reversible operations rotation (90°, 180°, 270°) and image flipping (vertical or horizontal) affect the overall performance.

Adaptive spatial prediction in intra coding

Adaptive transform with HEVC intra coding
2015 Asia-Pacific Signal and Information Processing Association Annual Summit and Conference (APSIPA), 2015This paper proposes a content adaptive transform based on singular value decomposition (SVD) with HEVC intra coding. In the latest video coding standard HEVC, a combination of Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and Discrete Sine Transform (DST) is adopted to transform the residuals from intra prediction.

Parallel intra prediction for video coding
28th Picture Coding Symposium, 2010In this paper, we propose an intra-prediction system that is both parallel friendly and with high coding efficiency. This is achieved by combining a novel prediction strategy that reduces serial dependencies and a novel, multi-directional and adaptive prediction system.
