Pyridine Nucleotide Metabolites and Calcium Release from Intracellular Stores
2012Ca(2+) signals are probably the most common intracellular signaling elements, controlling an extensive range of responses in virtually all cells. Many cellular stimuli, often acting at cell surface receptors, evoke Ca(2+) signals by mobilizing Ca(2+) from intracellular stores. Inositol trisphosphate (IP₃) was the first messenger shown to link events at

Sampling Tube Device for Monitoring Intracellular Metabolite Dynamics
Analytical Biochemistry, 1997Continuous sampling of microorganisms from a controlled bioreactor with rapid inactivation of metabolism and extraction of metabolites using precooled -40 degrees C perchloric acid solution (35%) was achieved with a sampling tube, thus fixing fast dynamic reactions at a certain position in the tube.

Production of intracellular arachidonic acid metabolites by human granulosa cells
Prostaglandins, Leukotrienes and Essential Fatty Acids, 1990The major intracellular metabolites of arachidonic acid within human granulosa cells are an epoxy-eicosatrienoic acid (EET), and a dihydroxy-metabolite. The former which was present at higher levels, co-migrated with 5,6-EET on HPLC. Incubation of the cells with LH for 5 min stimulated the production of both 5,6-EET and the dihydroxy compound 2-4 fold.

Quantitative Evaluation of Intracellular Metabolite Extraction Techniques for Yeast Metabolomics
Analytical Chemistry, 2009Accurate determination of intracellular metabolite levels requires well-validated procedures for sampling and sample treatment. Several methods exist for metabolite extraction, but the literature is contradictory regarding the adequacy and performance of each technique.

Application of Terahertz Time‐Domain Spectroscopy in Intracellular Metabolite Detection
Journal of Biophotonics, 2010AbstractUsing terahertz time‐domain spectroscopy (THz‐TDS), we have investigated the THz spectra of astaxanthin and riboflavin and the spectra of two kinds of cell, haenatcoccus plusivalis and bacillus subtilis, which could produce astaxanthin and riboflavin, respectively, during their metabolite process. Riboflavin was found to be much more absorptive

Intracellular metabolite profiling of Fusarium oxysporum converting glucose to ethanol
Journal of Biotechnology, 2005The filamentous fungus Fusarium oxysporum is known for its ability to produce ethanol by simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF) of cellulose. However, the conversion rate is low and significant amounts of acetic acid are produced as a by-product. In this study, the growth characteristics of F.

Glycolytic Metabolites and Intracellular Signaling in the Pancreatic Beta Cell
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1999In the pathways modulating the secretion of insulin and other physiologically important molecules, the critical role played by calcium in the moment-to-moment regulation of secretory processes may be modulated by additional factors, and these factors may include the glycolytic metabolites.

Intracellular signal transduction pathways activated by ceramide and its metabolites
Pharmacological Research, 2003The sphingolipid ceramide has proven to be a powerful second-signal effector molecule that regulates diverse cellular processes including apoptosis, cell senescence, the cell cycle, and cellular differentiation. Ceramide has been shown to activate a number of enzymes involved in stress signaling cascades including both protein kinases and protein ...

Intracellular ATP Levels Affect Secondary Metabolite Production inStreptomycesspp.
Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 2011The addition of extracellular ATP (exATP) to four Streptomyces strains had similar effects: low exATP levels stimulated antibiotic production and high levels reduced it. Compared with antibiotic production, the concentrations of intracellular ATP (inATP) in the tested strains were opposite, which suggests a role of inATP in regulating secondary ...
