In this paper, we focus on the limb-brightened, prolate spheroidal cavity of the radio galaxy Cygnus A, as revealed by the Chandra X-ray Observatory. We use the shock heated, thermal intracluster medium around the expanding cavity to infer the properties of the radio synchrotron-emitting gas inside the cavity.

XMM-Newton observation of M87 I. Single-phase temperature structure of intracluster medium [PDF]
We report the results of a detailed analysis of the temperature structure of the X-ray emitting plasma halo of M~87, the cD galaxy of the Virgo Cluster. Using the MEKAL model, the data provide strong indications that the intracluster medium has a single phase structure locally, except the regions associated to the radio structures.

We present an analysis of the behaviour of a perturbed radio cocoon. Comparisons with observations of sound waves detected in the Perseus and Virgo clusters suggest the separations of observed ripples correspond to the natural oscillation frequency of the cocoon.
