A low-cost programmable pulse generator for physiology and behavior [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Precisely timed experimental manipulations of the brain and its sensory environment are often employed to reveal principles of brain function. While complex and reliable pulse trains for temporal stimulus control can be generated with commercial ...

Long‐Term Stable Neural Interfaces with Nanoporous Graphene Electrodes and Hybrid Polyimide‐Aluminium Oxide Encapsulation

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 9, Issue 12, December 1, 2025.
Flexible thin‐film neural microelectrodes combining nanoporous reduced graphene oxide and a PI/Al2O3 hybrid encapsulation maintained stable electrochemical performance after soaking in PBS at 57 °C for over 377 days while they sustained the injection of 1 billion biphasic current pulses at high charge density (1 mC cm−2).

A prolonged experimental febrile seizure results in motor map reorganization in adulthood

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2012
Introduction: Clinical studies have suggested that children experiencing a febrile seizure (FS) before the age of 1 year have persistent deficits, but it is unknown whether these seizures lead to permanent cortical reorganization and alterations in ...

Topography of supplementary eye field afferents to frontal eye field in macaque: Implications for mapping between saccade coordinate systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Two discrete areas in frontal cortex are involved in generating saccadic eye movements—the frontal eye field (FEF) and the supplementary eye field (SEF).

Implantable Neural Probes for Brain-Machine Interfaces - Current Developments and Future Prospects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A Brain-Machine interface (BMI) allows for direct communication between the brain and machines. Neural probes for recording neural signals are among the essential components of a BMI system. In this report, we review research regarding implantable neural

Toward Natural Limb Function: A New Era in Prosthetic Innovation

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, Volume 98, Issue 5, Page 913-928, November 2025.
The past decade has witnessed groundbreaking clinical implementation of neuroprosthetic limbs driven by signals from peripheral targets (eg, nerves and muscle) and the brain to restore limb function for individuals with limb loss or impairment. In this review, we highlight recent key clinical trials in peripheral neuroprosthetic interfaces directly ...

Rewiring of the corticospinal tract in the adult rat after unilateral stroke and anti-Nogo-A therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The adult CNS has limited potential for functional recovery after structural lesions. Lindau et al. report that a blocking antibody to the neurite-growth inhibitory protein Nogo-A improved functional recovery in a rat sensorimotor cortex stroke model ...

Intact Bilateral Resting-State Networks in the Absence of the Corpus Callosum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Temporal correlations between different brain regions in the resting-state BOLD signal are thought to reflect intrinsic functional brain connectivity (Biswal et al., 1995; Greicius et al., 2003; Fox et al., 2007).

Confirmation of the Enhancement Effect of ANCE Treatment on Functional Recovery of Manual Dexterity From Primary Motor Cortex (M1) Lesion in Adult Macaque Monkeys

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2025.
Together, an earlier pilot study and the current confirmatory study show that an autologous cellular therapy promotes beneficial, significant enhancement of manual dexterity recovery after lesion of the primary motor cortex. ABSTRACT Introduction A pilot study provided preliminary evidence indicating that peri‐lesional adult autologous neural cell ...
