Dynamic intransitive noninterference revisited [PDF]

open access: yesFormal Aspects of Computing, 2017
AbstractThe paper studies dynamic information flow security policies in an automaton-based model. Two semantic interpretations of such policies are developed, both of which generalize the notion of TA-security [van der Meyden ESORICS 2007] for static intransitive noninterference policies.

Neural signatures of intransitive preferences [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2010
It is often assumed that decisions are made by rank-ordering and thus comparing the available choice options based on their subjective values. Rank-ordering requires that the alternatives' subjective values are mentally represented at least on an ordinal scale. Because one alternative cannot be at the same time better and worse than another alternative,

Intransitive Dice [PDF]

open access: yesMathematics Magazine, 2016
We consider $n$-sided dice whose face values lie between $1$ and $n$ and whose faces sum to $n(n+1)/2$. For two dice $A$ and $B$, define $A \succ B$ if it is more likely for $A$ to show a higher face than $B$. Suppose $k$ such dice $A_1,\dots,A_k$ are randomly selected. We conjecture that the probability of ties goes to 0 as $n$ grows.
