Comparison of Incidence And Prognosis of Acute Endophthalmitis after Cataract Surgery And Intravitreal Avastin Injection

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ̒Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Bābul, 2021
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Acute endophthalmitis is one of the most dangerous complications after eye surgeries. Knowing the severity of this complication is critical for treatment policy in ophthalmology departments.

Suppression of Retinal Neovascularisation by Tetrahedral Framework Nucleic Acids‐Resveratrol Via Dual Anti‐Angiogenesis and Anti‐Inflammation

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Resveratrol‐loaded tetrahedral framework nucleic acids (tFNAs‐RSV) enable concurrent anti‐angiogenic and anti‐inflammatory therapy, enhancing ocular delivery and bioactivity. In hypoxia‐induced retinal neovascularisation, tFNAs‐RSV reduce neovascular lesions, vascular leakage and inflammatory infiltration by suppressing HIF‐1, p38 MAPK and NF‐κB p65 ...

Health, hope and worry: A qualitative study of people with diabetes' experiences with anti‐VEGF treatment

open access: yesDiabetic Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims Diabetic macular edema (DME) is a leading cause of vision loss among individuals with diabetes. While anti‐VEGF therapy is a widely used and effective treatment, limited research has explored participants' lived experiences throughout the treatment process.

Abnormal Glycaemic Fluctuations Associated With Early Microvascular Changes in the Retina and Choroid of Nondiabetic Adults

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims To evaluate the association between continuous glucose monitoring (CGM)‐derived glycaemic variability indicators and early microvascular changes of the retina and choroid in nondiabetic individuals. Materials and Methods Community‐based individuals at high risk for type 2 diabetes (T2DM) underwent detailed assessments including oral ...

Plantar fascia thickness in type 1 diabetes mellitus patients: Clinical associations and metabolic correlates

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Ultrasound‐measured plantar fascia thickness is associated with microvascular complications and glycemic control in individuals with type 1 diabetes, suggesting PFT as a potential non‐invasive tool for clinical assessment. In addition, improved thickness values were observed in patients using automated insulin delivery systems.

Sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 inhibition and injection burden in mild diabetic macular edema: An exploratory post hoc analysis of the COMET trial

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Combining oral sodium‐glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors with reduced intravitreal injections of anti‐vascular endothelial growth factor showed potential efficacy for mild diabetic macular edema. ABSTRACT Aims To investigate the potential of sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) as a less invasive treatment option for mild diabetic macular

Evaluation for endotoxin in intraocular materials used during phacoemulsification surgery using a recombinant factor C assay

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 481-485, March 2025.
Abstract Objective Cataract surgery remains the sole method to resolve blindness secondary to cataract formation. One complication includes fibrin web formation post‐operatively. This study aimed to investigate the presence of endotoxin within materials used during cataract surgery as a possible cause of fibrin web phenomenon. Methods Preservative‐free
