The renormalization of fluctuating branes, the Galileon and asymptotic safety

open access: yes, 2013
We consider the renormalization of d-dimensional hypersurfaces (branes) embedded in flat (d+1)-dimensional space. We parametrize the truncated effective action in terms of geometric invariants built from the extrinsic and intrinsic curvatures.

Hospitalization Through Families’ Eyes: Comparing Inpatient Care Quality for Children With Sickle Cell Disease and Cystic Fibrosis in Canada

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a chronic, inherited hemoglobinopathy that requires frequent hospitalization for disease‐related complications. Canadian data on inpatient care is limited. This study compared caregiver‐reported hospital experiences of children with SCD to those with cystic fibrosis (CF), a chronic, autosomal recessive ...

Assessing Cognitive Functioning in Children With Brain Tumors: Interaction of Neighborhood Social Determinants of Health and Neurological Risk

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background This study investigated how neighborhood‐level social determinants of health (SDOH), including redlining and neurological risk, interact to influence cognitive outcomes in children treated for brain tumors (CTBT). Methods A retrospective chart review of 161 CTBT aged 5–17 was conducted.

Design of mine-used intrinsically safe line array X-ray receiving box

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2021
The mine-used explosion-proof line array X-ray receiving box is not suitable for nondestructive testing of high-speed conveyor belts. And there are difficulties in processing the explosion-proof enclosure and heavy weight for nondestructive detection of ...

DART – Advanced Intrinsic Safety

open access: yesInternational Journal of Power System Operation and Energy Management, 2012
Intrinsic safety (I.S) is a worldwide accepted standard to protect low power electrical circuits from the potentially explosive hazardous area. End users throughout the fieldbus world are demanding more power to connect more instruments to their Fieldbus segments in Class I, Division 1, and Class I, Division 2, hazardous location applications.

Estimate of intrinsic safety of capacitive circuits [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
A universal method has been developed and tested for computer estimate of intrinsic safety of inductive capacitive circuits, which takes into account the most hazardous discharge type by contact closure and the regression dependences are obtained of minimal igniting energy on discharge time in a capacitive circuit and the comparison is made of results ...

Evaluation and Improvement of the Intrinsic Safety Level of Employees

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2021
Abstract Intrinsic safety is the eternal pursuit of power companies. The intrinsic safety level of front-line employees of technical skills posts is the basic guarantee for the security and stability operation of power systems. In order to help power companies scientifically evaluate and effectively improve the intrinsic safety level of ...
