Stationary Distribution of Stochastic Age-Dependent Population–Toxicant Model with Markov Switching

open access: yesMathematics
This work focuses on the convergence of the numerical invariant measure for a stochastic age-dependent population–toxicant model with Markov switching. Considering that Euler–Maruyama (EM) has the advantage of fast computation and low cost, explicit EM ...

Fostering Innovation: Streamlining Magnetocaloric Materials Research by Digitalization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetocaloric cooling (MCE) is an environmentally friendly refrigeration method with great potential. Optimizing MCE materials involves the preparation and screening of large quantities of samples, which in turn generates a large amount of data. A digitalization approach is presented that uses ontologies, knowledge graphs, and digital workflows to ...

Wijsman I_2-invariant convergence of double sequences of sets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, we study the concepts of Wijsman invariant convergence, Wijsmacn invariant statistical onvergence, Wijsman I2-invariant convergence (I^sigma_W_2), Wijsman I*_2 -invariant convergence (I*^sigma_W_2 ), Wijsman p-strongly invariant ...

Symbolic Regression and Multi‐Objective Optimization of the Flory–Huggins Interaction Parameter for Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.

Approximation of invariant measures for a class of maps with indifferent fixed points

open access: yes, 2005
Certain dynamical systems on the interval with neutrally stable repelling points admit invariant probability measures which are absolutely continuous with respect to Lebesgue measure.

The dual space of β(Γ)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1997
The space of Boehmians with Δ-convergence is a complete topological vector space in which the topology is induced by an invariant metric. We show that the dual space of the space of periodic Boehmians can be identified with the class of trigonometric ...

High‐Temperature Nanoindentation of Metals: Assessing Thermal Drift, Frame Compliance, and Chemical Composition Effects on the Reported Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Do not let thermal drift and instrument artifacts deceive high‐temperature nanoindentation results. We compare classical Oliver–Pharr and automatic image recognition analyses across steels and a Ni alloy to quantify these effects. Accounting for artifacts reveals systematic softening with temperature, while Cr and Ni additions boost resistance ...

An Adaptive Control Scheme for Nonholonomic Mobile Robot with Parametric Uncertainty

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems, 2005
This paper addresses the problem of stabilizing the dynamic model of a nonholonomic mobile robot. A discontinuous adaptive state feedback controller is derived to achieve global stability and convergence of the trajectories of the of the closed loop ...

Evaluation of Plasticity and Creep Parameters From Tensile Stress–Strain Data for a Range of Strain Rates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This plot compares experimental tensile stress–strain curves (with 4 different strain rates) and corresponding modelled curves (obtained using the optimised sets of Voce and Miller–Norton parameter values shown). The inferred M‐N values, characterizing the creep, are very similar to those obtained via conventional creep testing.

Deformation-specific and deformation-invariant visual object recognition: pose vs identity recognition of people and deforming objects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
When we see a human sitting down, standing up, or walking, we can recognise one of these poses independently of the individual, or we can recognise the individual person, independently of the pose. The same issues arise for deforming objects. For example,
