Plant pathogens as biocontrol agents of Cirsium arvense : an overestimated approach? [PDF]
Cirsium arvense is one of the worst weeds in agriculture. As herbicides are not very effective and not accepted by organic farming and special habitats, possible biocontrol agents have been investigated since many decades.

An intelligent early warning and treatment system for monkeypox, utilizing a sprayable AIEgen‐ liquid dressing (AIE@LD) that responds to lesion pH. Integrated with a smartphone app and cloud platform, it enables real‐time infection detection via fluorescence imaging and triggers on‐demand photodynamic therapy under white light, effectively eradicating ...

ImmuDef, a novel algorithm to quantitatively evaluate the anti‐infection immune defense function of an individual based on RNA‐seq data via a variational autoencoder (VAE) model. It is validated on 3200+ samples across four immune states with high accuracy. It can serve as a metric for disease severity and prognosis across pathogenic cohorts.

Invasive Fungal Infections after Natural Disasters
The link between natural disasters and subsequent fungal infections in disaster-affected persons has been increasingly recognized. Fungal respiratory conditions associated with disasters include coccidioidomycosis, and fungi are among several organisms that can cause near-drowning pneumonia.

To tackle the alarming mortality rate linked to Candida albicans infections, a synthetic lethal strategy precisely aimed at the two distinct forms of this fungus: yeast and hyphae is formulated. Ultimately, through the innovative use of macrophage membranes for drug delivery, the effectiveness of this strategy is substantially boosted while ...

Reflectance confocal microscopy for the diagnosis of skin infections and infestations [PDF]
Reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) is a noninvasive real-time imaging technique that has been widely used for the diagnosis of skin cancer. More recently, it has been reported as a useful tool for the diagnosis and management of several inflammatory ...

Discovery that deadenylation, rather than transcription, acts as the rate‐limiting step for developmental timing in a plant pathogen. Evidence that P‐body integrity and mRNA decay are mechanistically coupled to rapid cellular differentiation under environmental stress. Identification of Pan2‐Pan3 as a pathogen‐specific “meta‐virulence factor” absent in

Yin and yang of interleukin-17 in host immunity to infection [version 1; referees: 2 approved] [PDF]
The interleukin-17 (IL-17) family cytokines, such as IL-17A and IL-17F, play important protective roles in host immune response to a variety of infections such as bacterial, fungal, parasitic, and viral.
