Eruption Source Parameters in Volcanic Plume Modeling: Advances, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesReviews of Geophysics, Volume 64, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Accurately predicting the atmospheric dispersion of volcanic ash and gases is crucial for both scientific understanding and hazard mitigation. Estimating Eruption Source Parameters (ESP), such as mass eruption rate, plume height, duration, and particle size distribution and properties, remains challenging due to the complex nature of volcanic ...

Bivariate Mixture of Inverse Weibull Distribution: Properties and Estimation

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, 2020
In this study, we construct a mixture of bivariate inverse Weibull distribution. We assumed that the parameters of two marginals have Bernoulli distributions. Several properties of the proposed model are obtained, such as probability marginal density function, probability marginal cumulative function, the product moment, the moment of the two variables

Accelerated Fatigue Testing of High‐Speed Steel

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, Volume 49, Issue 6, Page 2156-2166, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The staircase method is commonly employed in the characterization of metals to determine their fatigue limit. In this approach, the stress amplitude is systematically varied around the assumed fatigue limit in consecutive tests. However, its applicability for in‐process optimization in alloy design and development is limited by the large ...

Weighted Version of Generalized Inverse Weibull Distribution

open access: yesJournal of Modern Applied Statistical Methods, 2019
Weighted distributions are used in many fields, such as medicine, ecology, and reliability. A weighted version of the generalized inverse Weibull distribution, known as weighted generalized inverse Weibull distribution (WGIWD), is proposed. Basic properties including mode, moments, moment generating function, skewness, kurtosis, and Shannon’s entropy ...

Health Prognostics in Multi‐Sensor Systems Based on Multivariate Functional Data Analysis

open access: yesApplied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry, Volume 42, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
ABSTRACT Recent developments in big data analysis, machine learning, Industry 4.0, and IoT applications have enabled the monitoring and processing of multi‐sensor data collected from systems, allowing for the prediction of the “Remaining Useful Life” (RUL) of system components.

Modeling COVID-19 Outcomes Using a New Extended Inverse Burr Distribution

open access: yesJournal of Probability and Statistics
A new extension of the inverse Burr distribution, namely the extended odd-Weibull inverse Burr distribution (ExOW-IB), is proposed and defined. This new distribution is a member of the extended odd Weibull-G family.

Characterizations of the transmuted inverse Weibull distribution

open access: yesANZIAM Journal, 2014
We characterise the transmuted inverse Weibull distribution and compare it to many other generalizations of the two-parameter inverse Weibull distribution using the likelihood ratio test. Explicit expressions are derived for the quantile, moment generating function, entropies, mean deviation and order statistics.

A Comparative Study of iDNA and airDNA for Biodiversity Assessments in Tropical Forest Fragments

open access: yesEnvironmental DNA, Volume 8, Issue 3, May–June 2026.
Comparing invertebrate‐derived DNA and airborne eDNA across fragmented tropical forests, we show that iDNA recovers higher vertebrate richness from fewer samples, while airDNA offers greater field reliability. Together, both methods capture functional diversity gradients, supporting a combined approach for agroforestry biodiversity monitoring ...

Improving Power of the Win Ratio Analysis through Distance‐based Weights

open access: yesStatistics in Medicine, Volume 45, Issue 10-12, May 2026.
ABSTRACT The win ratio method, used to analyze composite endpoints in clinical trials, has gained substantial popularity in recent years because of its ability to prioritize components of the composite outcome. Despite gaining popularity and being extended to solve some of its issues, little work has been done to incorporate covariate information into ...
