Stellar Inversion Techniques

open access: yes, 2017
Stellar seismic inversions have proved to be a powerful technique for probing the internal structure of stars, and paving the way for a better understanding of the underlying physics by revealing some of the shortcomings in current stellar models.

Automated FRAP microscopy for high‐throughput analysis of protein dynamics in chromatin organization and transcription

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoboMic is an automated confocal microscopy pipeline for high‐throughput functional imaging in living cells. Demonstrated with fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP), it integrates AI‐driven nuclear segmentation, ROI selection, bleaching, and analysis.

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Regional Responses of Vegetation Productivity to the Two Phases of ENSO

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
The two phases of El‐Niño‐Southern Oscillation (ENSO) influence both regional and global terrestrial vegetation productivity on inter‐annual scales.

Time-Reversal Symmetry-Breaking Nematic Insulators near Quantum Spin Hall Phase Transitions

open access: yes, 2018
We study the phase diagram of a model quantum spin Hall system as a function of band inversion and band-coupling strength, demonstrating that when band hybridization is weak, an interaction-induced nematic insulator state emerges over a wide range of ...

HIV‐1 establishes immediate latency in T cells expressing the viral Nef protein

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Nef is a viral protein often omitted from HIV‐1 reporter viruses. Consequently, its role in viral latency is unclear. We developed three novel dual reporter HIV‐1 derivatives that express Nef and allow for detection of latent and productive infection. Using these reporters, we show that Nef does not affect the establishment of immediate viral latency ...

Delayed Pantropical Carbon Sink Recovery Due To Asynchronous Post‐El Niño Photosynthesis and Respiration Trajectories

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Occurring in 2015/16, the strong El Niño has been shown to significantly influence the pantropical carbon fluxes with multiple lines of evidence. However, a comprehensive understanding on the regional and vegetation‐specific net ecosystem productivity ...

Together But Different: The Subgenomes of the Bimodal Eleutherine Karyotypes Are Differentially Organized

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2019
Bimodal karyotypes are characterized by the presence of two sets of chromosomes of contrasting size. Eleutherine bulbosa (2n = 12) presents a bimodal karyotype with a large chromosome pair, which has a pericentric inversion in permanent heterozygosity ...

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.
