Chiral separation of chloroalkanes with the chromatographic column onboard Martian rovers
Computer image of the Rosalind Franklin Rover of ESA's ExoMars mission. ExoMars is scheduled to land on planet Mars in Oxia Planum in 2029. This area represents an interesting spot to look for biosignatures. Investigations of ExoMars include measurement on molecular chirality. We show that chiral chloroalkanes, that have been identified on Mars, can be

Artificial molecular machines and motors—Design and control of nanoscale motion
Molecules are constantly moving because of thermal fluctuations, but random motion alone cannot be exploited to perform directional tasks. Artificial molecular machines use chemical, electrical, or light energy to bias this motion. Molecular shuttles, rotary motors, and supramolecular pumps illustrate how nanoscale movement can be controlled and ...

The efficiency of inverted index and cluster searches [PDF]
The processing time and disk space requirements of an inverted index and top-down cluster search are compared. The cluster search is shown to use both more time and more disk space, mostly due to the large number of cluster centroids needed by the search.

Heterodimeric amino acid transporters consist of SLC7 and SLC3 family proteins arranged in a conserved structural organization. They regulate nutrient transport across cell membranes, supporting essential cellular functions. These transporters also contribute to xenobiotic/drug uptake and distribution.

Dear‐PSM: A deep learning‐based peptide search engine enables full database search for proteomics
Peptide spectrum matching is the process of linking mass spectrometry data with peptide sequences. An experimental spectrum can match thousands of candidate peptides with variable modifications leading to an exponential increase in candidates. Completing

Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?

Efficient segment pattern based method for malicious URL detection
An efficient segment based method for detecting malicious URL was proposed.Firstly it analyzed the annotated malicious URLs in terms of three semantic segments,i.e.,domain segment, path segment and file segment.Secondly it quickly calculated the common ...
