Grid infrastructures for the electronics domain: requirements and early prototypes from an EPSRC pilot project [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The fundamental challenges facing future electronics design is to address the decreasing – atomistic - scale of transistor devices and to understand and predict the impact and statistical variability these have on design of circuits and systems.

Plyometric Training Versus Resistive Exercises After Acute Lateral Ankle Sprain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background: Plyometric training is a widely used method to improve performance in healthy athletes. It is highly recommended in the late stage of rehabilitation of many lower limb injuries.

Reducing voltage fluctuations using DSTATCOMs and reactive power of PV inverters in a medium voltage distribution system

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
This paper proposes local reactive power control to mitigate the voltage fluctuation in medium-voltage systems using DSTATCOMs and photovoltaic (PV) inverters.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Grid‐forming converters in interconnected power systems: Requirements, testing aspects, and system impact

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation
In this study, the integration of grid‐forming (GFM) converters in power systems is discussed in terms of both the fundamental aspects of system stability and the technical possibilities of converter‐based resources.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Second‐order SMO‐based sensorless control of IM drive: experimental investigations of observer sensitivity and system reconfiguration in postfault operation mode

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, 2021
In normal operation mode, sensorless speed‐controlled motor drives should be more reliable, less expensive and less bulky than their counterparts with a speed sensor.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Nonreciprocal negative-impedance invertor

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1967
Two nullator-norator equivalent representations of the non-reciprocal negative-impedance invertor (z11 = z22 = 0, z12 ≠ z21, and z12/z21>0) are described, with several transistorised-circuit realisations of these devices.
