Iodine speciation in snow during the MOSAiC expedition and its implications for Arctic iodine emissions.

open access: yesFaraday Discuss
Photolysis of iodide in surface snow is a plausible mechanism for supplying reactive volatile iodine to the Arctic atmosphere.

Theoretical evaluation of iodine and selenium speciation in the natural waters of iodine-deficient territories [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
Water migration of iodine, selenium are in many cases directly related to manifestation of thyroid pathologies, in particular, the endemic goiter. The main aim was to evaluate species and conditions of migration of these elements in natural waters from ...

Iodine and bromine speciation in snow and the effect of orographically induced precipitation [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2007
Iodine is an essential trace element for all mammals and may also influence climate through new aerosol formation. Atmospheric bromine cycling is also important due to its well-known ozone depletion capabilities.

On the Speciation of Iodine in Marine Aerosol [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, 2022
AbstractWe have compiled and analyzed a comprehensive data set of field observations of iodine speciation in marine aerosol. The soluble iodine content of fine aerosol (PM1) is dominated by soluble organic iodine (SOI; ∼50%) and iodide (∼30%), while the coarse fraction is dominated by iodate (∼50%), with nonnegligible amounts of iodide (∼20%).

Measurement report: Indirect evidence for the controlling influence of acidity on the speciation of iodine in Atlantic aerosols [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2021
The speciation of soluble iodine and major-ion composition were determined in size-fractionated aerosols collected during the AMT21 cruise between Avonmouth, UK, and Punta Arenas, Chile, in September–November 2011.

A Global Model for Iodine Speciation in the Upper Ocean [PDF]

open access: yesGlobal Biogeochemical Cycles, 2020
An ocean iodine cycling model is presented, which predicts upper ocean iodine speciation. The model comprises a three-layer advective and diffusive ocean circulation model of the upper ocean, and an iodine cycling model embedded within this circulation. The two primary reservoirs of iodine are represented, iodide and iodate. Iodate is reduced to iodide

Iodine Speciation, Transportation, and Transformation in Soils: A Critical Review

open access: yesYankuang ceshi, 2022
BACKGROUND Identifying the occurrence form of iodine in soil and the law of iodine migration and transformation in soil is of great significance for evaluating the biogeochemical behavior of iodine and preventing human iodine deficiency diseases ...

Iodine solubility and speciation in glasses [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2019
AbstractThe study of iodine in glasses and melts is critical in many areas, from geosciences to materials science to waste management. Glasses in the ternary system Na2O-B2O3-SiO2 were studied with the goal of identifying a glass matrix able to dissolve large quantities of this element, and to identify the main parameters affecting the solubility of ...

Discussion on the Analysis Method of Iodide in Natural Water Samples

open access: yesYankuang ceshi, 2023
BACKGROUNDAs the main source of iodine intake, water is of practical significance to detect the content of iodide accurately. At present, the common methods for the analysis of iodide in water samples include ion chromatography, gas chromatography ...
