Solvated Alkali and Calcium 2,2,6,6‐Tetramethylpiperidides: Synthesis and Reactivity

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Several solvated lithium, potassium, and calcium tetramethylpiperidides have been prepared and structurally authenticated. They mediate the deprotometallation of 1,3‐dimethoxybenzene at low to very low temperatures. Alkali 2,2,6,6‐tetramethylpiperidides (TMP) are quintessential bases in organic chemistry.

Synthetic Access to the Class of 3‐Amino‐4‐Cyano‐Substituted Thiophenes

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
The synthesis of 1,1‐dibromo‐3,4,4‐trichloro‐2‐cyano‐1,3‐butadiene opens a first pathway to 3‐amino‐4‐cyano‐thiophenes. These compounds display a push–pull substitution pattern that allows for selective modifications at the 2 and 5 positions. Through S‐oxidation, substitution, and reduction valuable halo and hydrothiophenes are generated, which could ...

Synthesis of Bioorthogonal Mycolic Acids: Chemoselective Reduction of β‐Ketoesters Containing an Alkyne Using the Noyori Catalyst

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Bioorthogonal mycolic acids that are suitable probes for the study of the cell envelope of mycobacteria are synthesized by Noyori reduction of β‐ketoesters featuring a protected terminal alkyne. The triisopropylsilyl group is found to be very efficient in preventing the reduction of the alkyne.

MXenes: Emerging Materials for Environmental Biochemical Sensing Platforms

open access: yesElectron, EarlyView.
MXenes (e.g., transition metal carbides, nitrides, and carbonitrides), among those potential candidates for sensing materials, show promising potential with their intrinsically two‐dimensional large interactive area, wide‐range‐tunable material properties, active surface chemistry, and excellent processability for large‐scale fabrication.

Counter Electrodes Based on Polyaniline/carbon Nanotube/CuxS Nanocomposites for CdS Quantum Dots‐Sensitized Solar Cells

open access: yesEnergy Technology, EarlyView.
Counter electrodes (CE) based on Polyaniline are easily prepared via electrodeposition. The polyaniline‐multi‐walled carbon nanotubes/copper sulfide (PANI‐MWCNT/CuxS) CEs exhibited better electrocatalytic activity than the other materials prepared, such as Cu and CuxS.
