Ion-Pairing Strength in Polyelectrolyte Complexes

Macromolecules, 2017
Polyelectrolyte complexes, PECs, are spontaneously formed blends of polyelectrolytes bearing positive, Pol+, and negative, Pol–, repeat units. Many interesting PEC morphologies have been observed, ranging from dense precipitates to liquidlike coacervates to quasi-stable nanoparticles, depending on the identity of the polymers and the preparation ...

Ion Pairing in Cationic Olefin−Gold(I) Complexes

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2009
The relative anion-cation orientation in [(PPh(3))Au(4-Me-styrene)]BF(4) (1BF(4)) and [(NHC)Au(4-Me-styrene)]BF(4) [2BF(4); NHC = 1,3-bis(di-iso-propylphenyl)-imidazol-2-ylidene] has been investigated by combining (19)F,(1)H-HOESY NMR spectroscopy and Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations incorporating solvent and relativistic effects.

Studies on the formation of hydrophobic ion-pairing complex of alendronate

Archives of Pharmacal Research, 2009
A hydrophobic ion-pairing (HIP) concept considering the high dissociation property of alendronate was used as a strategy to improve the bioavailability of alendronate. Alendronate, which has a negative charge, was ion-paired with organic cations, such as tetraheptylammonium bromide (THAB) or tetrabutylammonium iodide (TBAI), to confer hydrophobicity to

Synthesis of and Structural Insights into Contact Ion Pair and Solvent-Separated Ion Pair Diphenyliridate Complexes

Organometallics, 2020
Lithium diphenyliridate complexes bearing cycloocta-1,5-diene (COD) as a ligand were synthesized by treating [IrCl(cod)]2 with phenyllithium and subsequent recrystallization.

ESR studies of valinomycin ion pair complexes

Journal of Magnetic Resonance (1969), 1976
ESR studies of ion pair complexes formed in benzene between valinomycin (VM) and the alkali metal salts of tetracyanoethylene (MTCNE) are reported. The absolute value of the alkali metal hyperfine splitting constants for the ion pair complexes are given for the temperature range 10 to 70°C.

Photoconductivity of metal dithiolate ion-pair complexes

Synthetic Metals, 1992
Abstract Photoelectric measurements were performed on powder samples of ion-pair complexes of mono- and dianionic nickel and zinc dithiolenes with redox-active cations like 2,2′-and 4,4′-bipyridinium or simple tetraalkylammonium derivatives. From the dependence of the photoconductivity on temperature, applied electric field and wavelength of exciting

Ion-Pair Recognition by Metal–Salophen and Metal–Salen Complexes

Australian Journal of Chemistry, 2012
The development of heteroditopic receptor systems that can simultaneously bind cationic and anionic species is one of the most challenging research topics in supramolecular chemistry, attracting the attention of a large number of research groups worldwide.

Tight-Contact Ion Pairs Involving Pt(II) Dithiooxamide Complexes: the Acid−Base Reactions between Hydrohalogenated Ion-Paired Complexes and Pyridine

Inorganic Chemistry, 2009
The equilibrium constants relative to HCl exchange between Pt(II)-containing tight contact ion pairs (TCIP) and pyridine have been investigated in chloroform solution at 298 K. The general formulas of the metal species are: {[Pt(H(2)-R(2)-dithiooxamide)(2)](2+), 2Cl(-)} (a-type compounds; R = methyl (1a), ethyl (2a), n-propyl (3a), iso-propyl (4a), n ...

Structure of Ion Pair Solvation Complexes

Angewandte Chemie International Edition in English, 1972
AbstractIn solvents of low polarity, salts containing a carbanion, e.g. fluorenylsodium, or a radical anion, e.g. coronenesodium, can exist as contact ion pairs or as solvent separated ion pairs. Particular interest attaches to the complexes of ion pairs with the strongly solvating, polydentate polyglycol dimethyl ethers (glymes) and with crown ...

Competitive Interactions of Two Ion-Paired Salts with a Neutral Host To Form Two Non-Ion-Paired Complexes

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2007
It is demonstrated that our reported equilibrium treatments that take into account ion-paired guest and non-ion-paired complexes can be applied to competitive complexations. Satisfactory results were obtained for a system with two cationic guests [N,N'-dimethyl-4,4'-biyridinium bis(hexafluorophosphate) (1) and dibenzylammonium hexafluorophosphate (2 ...
