Ion-Pair Interaction in Pyridinium Carboxylate Solutions

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2008
Ion-pair interactions between pyridinium cations and various carboxylate anions are explored using noisy light based coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (I(2)CARS). Binary mixtures of pyridine and various carboxylic acids (including halo-acetic acids, straight-chain carboxylic acids, and pivalic acid) are prepared.

Ion pair–ion pair and ion–dipole interactions in polyurethane–styrene blends

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1985
AbstractIt is shown that ion pair–ion pair interactions can be utilized to achieve miscibility in blends of urethanes with styrene ionomers. The urethanes contain quaternary ammonium salts in the hard segments, while the styrenes contain sodium methacrylate groups (∼9.6 mol %).

Ion pair receptors based on anion–π interaction

Chemical Communications, 2011
A novel type of ditopic ion pair receptors based on anion-π interaction is reported. Oxacalix[2]arene[2]triazine azacrowns were synthesized efficiently from a one-pot reaction between 2,4-dichloro-4-methoxytriazine and 3,5-dihydroxybenzaldehyde followed by condensation with a diamine and reduction of bisimine; they acted as selective ditopic receptors ...

Supramolecular Ion-Pair Interactions To Control Monolayer Assembly

Langmuir, 2009
We demonstrate that noncovalent ion-pair interactions in solution can be employed to control the molecular spacing of thiols in a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) on gold. Ion-pairs formed between the carboxylate tail-group of 16-mercaptohexadecanoic acid (MHA) and tetraalkylammonium (TAA+) hydroxide salts of various alkyl side-chain lengths remain ...

Exchange interaction in isolated ion pairs

Physics Letters A, 1967
Abstract The asymmetry of the exchange-coupling tensor of an isolated pair of magnetic ions is studied. The result shows that this asymmetry is strongly related to the unitary transformations of the spin-Hamiltonian. Only in a few cases it can be useful for the description of the magnetic dipole transitions and the Zeeman effect.

Aqueous divalent metal–nitrate interactions: hydration versus ion pairing

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2008
Nitrate aqueous solutions, Mg(NO(3))(2), Ca(NO(3))(2), Sr(NO(3))(2), and Pb(NO(3))(2), are investigated using Raman spectroscopy and free energy profiles from molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. Analysis of the in-plane deformation, symmetric stretch, and asymmetric stretch vibrational modes of the nitrate ions reveal perturbation caused by the metal ...

Non-covalent interactions in ionic liquid ion pairs and ion pair dimers: a quantum chemical calculation analysis

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2015
Weak non-covalent interactions were studied by means of QTAIM and NCI approaches in ion pairs and ion pair dimers of 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium cations coupled with perfluorinated anions.

Cobalt ion pair macroscopic recognition by orthogonal interaction

Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, 2016
Abstract A simple calix[4]arene dialkyne diester(C4DE) was designed and synthesized in high yield (80%). C4DE was clicked onto a microstructured Au surface, and showed selective macroscopic recognition of cobalt picrate by orthogonal interactions, detected via contact angle measurements.

Interactions between Cationic Ion Pair Amphiphile Vesicles and Hyaluronan—A Physicochemical Study

Langmuir, 2021
High-resolution ultrasound spectroscopy (HR-US), size and ζ-potential titrations, and isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) were used to characterize the interactions between hyaluronan and catanionic ion pair amphiphile vesicles composed of hexadecyltrimethylammonium-dodecylsulphate (HTMA-DS), dioctadecyldimethylammonium chloride (DODAC), and ...
